Ruling on hanging verses of the Qur'aan on walls

Jazka'Allah Khair for sharing. I do have Quran'ic ayah's in my bedroom, and certain posters which have verses from the Qur'an, but alhamduillah they remind me of Islam, and give me strength when I am feeling weak. I intented to put them up only for myself, so they can serve as a reminder, and cause my heart to weep. Sunhana'Allah.

InshAllah, I have been told that this is one reason for doing so that isn't bad, but that to do so with the intention of reminding to recite is better. I think this must fall into the category of somethiing unclear and to follow your heart in the matter inshallah?

Detailed discussion of bid’ah and shirk

First of all brother there is no need for expressions like "gah" or any simmular that do not have clear meaning and can mean many things. To be honest I do not have time to define it. And also I do not consider it appropriet and Allah knows the best.

Jazzak Allah khair for the link although I think that my questions were clear but it is fine.

Like most of brothers and sister agreed here regarding this subject I will use opportunity to repeat it once again: "if the person's intentions of hanging these things up are NOT "for decorating," AND if the AYETS and SURAHS are CLEARLY written (with no fancy calligraphy, just) so that you CAN read what it says, and so then you hang it up because it helps remember Ayets from the Quran, reminds a person about Allah Subhanahu wa Ta Alla, etc. then it's not really WRONG to have these plaques."

I hope now this isue is more clearer to all of us and that we have found this discusion beneficial.

I do wonder why hang when you can simply take a minute or two and read /ponder the holy QURAN . (laziness)


Majority of the muslim ummah hang the holy QURAN for one purpose decoration . Be it at home or elsewhere which can lead to Riyaa (show off ). If we are telling the truth why dont we memorize the whole or at least a part of the holy QURAN and act upon it .

Sisters- i dont think we can disagree with the scholars when they are saying something unless you say i disagree because another school of though says thsi or a hadith says this. Its explained why its forbidden, he is just not saying its not allowed.

and as the other brother pointed out the fatwa from Islam Q and Wesbite, its the intention that matters. IF you want to learn a new surah and hang it so that you can constantly read and learn, then there is nothing wrong, we cant hang for protection etc.

Sisters- i dont think we can disagree with the scholars when they are saying something unless you say i disagree because another school of though says thsi or a hadith says this. Its explained why its forbidden, he is just not saying its not allowed.

Dear brother offcourse that we can disagree with schoolars Allhamdullilah if they are saying something that is not correct. For example there are schoolars who say that we can not watch TV at all. But Allhamdullilah that we can watch on TV everything that is in according with Islamic norms.

Becouse Allah has gaved reason not only to schoolars but to those who are not and who will become one day InshAllah. It is our duty to use our reason Allhamdullilah and not to foolow blindly everything that is said.

And also to clear something to those brothers and sisters who misunderstood, nobody is fighting here Allhamdulilah. We are Muslims, brothers and sisters. Discussion is alowed to us offcourse with respect to each others. We are here to learn and gain more knowledge. May Allah help us on that way.

It is fine for the sake of Allah, every day we learn from ours or mistakes of others.

Can you please bring me Shariah rulling for the subject of this thread, source of that rulling and tell me if you are in possibility offcourse, in which countries it is applied???

And regarding your remainder about decorating mosques today, what we can see is that those who are decorateing mosques are considering it hallal. All we can do is to pray Allah to guide us all, and we also should give more efforts to educate ourselves about pure Islam InshAllah. After learning that pure Islam we should apply that knowledge in our lifes and pass it on others.
