Salwa and Mustafa: The best of friends inside 57357

A conversation between two in-patient children at the hospital caught my attention. I heard Salma(9years old) advising Mohamed to finish his meal because the pasta was delicious. He, on the other hand, does not approve of the pasta and wants to eat something else. it was obvious that those 2 kids were best friends. As I spoke to them, Mustafa tells me that Salma is” my friend since I first came to the hospital and we always play with each other in the play room on the fourth floor. I asked him: why did you choose Salma in particular to be your friend? He informs me that the first time he was admitted to hospital, Salma was sharing his room. Salma interrupts our conversation saying: “we watch cartoons together and eat, play, and color together”, and Mustafa adds: “sharing the room with salma and playing together made me forget my pain”. I also asked him about Ramadan, and if they were allowed to fast, Salma replied: “yes I fast, but I just drink waterand I don’t eat till noon. Mustafa and myself agreed on alternating fasting days because he is now taking chemo therapy”
Salma Mohamed Abd El Hamid, 9 years old
her status: leukemia, blood cancer
lives at Ezbet El Nakhl, her mother is a housewife and the father is a carpenter.
Salma’s mother informs me that her daughter was normally an active, playful, and joyful girl. Suddenly, she noticed that she was sleeping too much, not eating properly and showing signs of extreme fatigue. She took her to the doctor who run some tests which revealed that she had cancer of the blood. She was advised to start the treatment immediately. She opted to take her to hospital 57357, having heard about it from the TV ads. Salma’s father and uncle encouraged her to do so. At hospital 57357, Salma was taken in charge by to Dr. Iman Attia who reassured the whole family on the condition of their daughter. Salma’s prognosis was good, having only an 8% level of leukemia in the blood as opposed to the 95% level determined by the referring Physician and she was expected to rapidly respond to the treatment God willingly. Salma started chemotherapy in January and now she is much better thanks be to God.
Mustafa Hany Gouda, from Shubra, 9 years old
Status: a cancerous tumor in the upper part of the right arm. Through surgery, the tumor, a part of the arm muscle, and the arm upper bone were removed. An operation for replacing the removed arm bone with a leg bone was performed and all cancerous cells in the area were destroyed. Presently, Mustafa is receiving chemotherapy treatment.
His mother informs me that it was right after the fall of Mustafa on his right arm as he was playing, that they discovered He had cancer. His physician had asked them then for X-rays and scans to make sure he did not fracture it. The Physician referred them to Hospital 57357.they were received by Dr. Ahmed Kamel who repeated the tests and scans and scheduled him for surgery which was performed by Dr.Ahmed El Ghoneimy. Asking about the present condition of Mustafa, his mother tells me that he is getting much better. His last lab tests reveal the absence of cancerous cells and his right arm is in good shape

Blessed and fortunate is the person who can donate the cost of a room or sponsor a bed at this hospital in favor of the sick children with cancer; his or her donation is considered as an on-going Sadaka. If you want to meet the dearest people to our Prophet's heart, the ones carrying God's message of love, come and visit the Children's Cancer hospital Egypt.
