She stayed in the rain

She stayed in the rain

Her sweetness entices my wandering senses,
As her eyes are felt by my struggling heart.
A collapsing heave accompanies my tears,
As I ready myself to begin to part.

My eyes are racing to catch her beauty,
As the sounds of battle continue to blaze.
Blurred together with her enchanting laughter,
As finally I enter, my desired last phase.

Approach me she does with her wide, clear eyes,
Flirting with a man who was denied his bride.
Stroking my beard - I begin to smile,
Making me forget those nights that I cried.

My grip on my rifle begins to ease,
My arms are wandering on both of my sides.
Seeking to grasp her - my strength is lost,
As she holds my hand and to her cheek she guides.

A brother beside me fires his rifle,
As the scorching shells fall onto my face.
But the pain is numbed by her intimate touch,
Unwinding my mind - like undoing lace.

The sounds of battle begin to fade,
As her lips of sweetness press against mine.
Her scent so enchanting - I am short of breath,
A blissful touch - a feeling so fine.

My arm is grasped by the hand of a brother,
Dragging me away from the shells that fall.
But extending my hand - I reach for her,
As it begins to drop, she holds it once more.

He turns my face towards his side,
His lips are moving but I hear no sound.
Pressing his hand against my chest,
A running wound he has surely found.

Maintaining his pressure against my chest,
He fires his rifle with his remaining arm.
But my eyes are stolen for a second time,
By an aurora of light of visual charm.

I lift my head and I look to the horizon,
A pair await in the midst of battle.
Their stalking stare inspires curiosity,
As the sound of mortars begin to rattle.
*!
My attention escapes me but I see her again,
Her beauty heals what remains of my scar.
As my eyes are lost in the depths of hers,
My wish for peace no longer seems so far.

Peace in a heart that had its battles,
And was left for others to ravage and plunder.
But her eyes reassure me that I face good times,
And life, for me, has sounded its last thunder.

She complements the smile that I fail to fold,
While the whistling mortars rain around.
Holding my hand - she remains beside me,
Finally, a bride that my heart has found.

Picture perfect - my maiden and battle,
An exquisite site for the soul to see.
I only await for the Angel of Death,
To invite me to Mercy and to set me free.

I didn't let go of my new found love,
With my remaining strength I tightened my hand.
She promised to see me in the gardens above,
When I finally enter the blissful land.

The brother ceased in firing his rifle,
And eased the pressure off of my chest.
Gazing upon me - he could see my smile,
As a tear from his eye fell onto my vest.*!

The beating ceased in my wounded chest,
While my maiden continued to grasp me tight.
Finally, my hand had lost its strength,
My freedom earned - I was now in flight...
