Showing Ears in Passport Photos

Salam Alay-om brothers and sisters,

I'm sure you know about this. A-tually I've never heard a fatwa about it. British passports for-e women to show their ears in order to get a photo for their passports, while it is known that women showing their ears to non muhram is not permmited in Islam. what -an a Muslimah do in this situation?!

may Allah reward you for your consideration towards obedience of Allah.

i think its permissible as it is done under compulsion.

It is not permissible for a woman to do that unless it has reached the point of necessity, such as being compelled by force to do that, or if these documents are essential for the necessities of life. Whoever is forced to do that should not let a stranger (non-mahram) take her picture, rather (the photographer) should be a mahram to her or a woman like her, unless she cannot find anyone who meets that criterion, in which case she is excused.
