side by side

Umm Aysha

*Strive for Jannah*
They lie on the table, side by side
the Noble Qur'aan, and the TV Guide.

One is well used, and cherished by all.

Is used daily, to help folks decide,
no, not the Qur'aan, but the TV Guide.

As the pages are turned, what shall they see?
Oh, what does it matter, turn on the TV.

So they open the book, in which they confide,
no, not the Qur'aan, but the TV Guide.

The word of Allah, is seldom read,
maybe a verse, before they fall into bed.

Exhausted and sleepy and tired as can be,
not from reading the Qur'aan, but from watching the TV.

No time for prayer, no time for the word of Allah,
the plan of istiqaama (steadfastness),
is seldom heard.

But forgivness of sin, so full and free,
is found in the Qur'aan, not on TV.

So then back to the table, side by side,
lay the Qur'aan and the TV Guide.

Asalamualikum,

So very true....I have the Qur'an by my bed side table, and when I go to bed I like to read it, and when I wake after prayers.

I also have the TV remote on this same table. When my eyes are too tired to read, I then go for the remote...at night.

So I would interject in the poem...'TV Remote' in place of TV guide....

The point was well made, since I have this choice every night when I lay in bed....and it is refreshing when my eyes are strong enough to read the Qur'an, instead of being too tired, thus reaching for the remote....

Sallam
