Signs of Allah in Ants

Examining the movement of the ant is thought provoking. It moves its infinitesimal legs in a sequential and extremely organised manner knowing perfectly which leg should take the first step and which the next. It moves very rapidly without faltering.

The Ant lifts crumbs much bigger than its body. It carries them to its nest with heart and soul. It travels distances that are very long in comparison to its tiny body. On featureless land, with no guide at its service, it can easily find its nest. Despite the entrance of the nest being too small even for us to find, it is not confused and finds it no matter where it is.

When one sees in the garden some ants, lined up one after the other, ardently toiling to carry food to their nest, one cannot stop wondering what kind of purpose these tiny living beings might have in working so hard. Then one realises that not only does the ant carry food for itself, but also for other members of its colony, for the queen ant and baby ants. How such a tiny ant, which does not even have a developed brain, knows diligence, discipline and self-sacrifice is a point on which one needs to reflect. After pondering these facts, one reaches the following conclusion: ants, like all other living beings, act by the inspiration of Allah and obey His commands alone.

I dont know why but ive always loved ants. ive always been fascinated by them, i love watching then climb the buildings stories high to fetch the best food, subhanallah.


I used to really upset me at uni when the boys in my halls used to squash them and burn them with their lighters, poor ants

Humble, you are from the South (almost anyway). I am sure when you were a boy, you made the mistake of stepping into a fire ant nest. After that kind of memory, I'm surprised you write on the beauty of these insects. :angryred: :lol:

Yes, I know. All things worship Allah (swt) in their own way. I know they serve a purpose. But man! It took me a couple of weeks to get over all those bites!

LOL....how did you know? Maybe it was good that you got all those bites, that in itself has a purpose. Don't mess with them bro! haha

The other day I was staring at a spiders web and I saw this fly stuck in it. The fly was still making some noises and the spider was using it's tiny legs to wrap it's web on the fly. For 10 mins I was looking and astonished how these creatures survive. The very nature and 'brain' of the spider of creating a web and knowing the purpose of it makes you think everything in the world has a purpose and does not go against it's purpose.

By the way, I just stood there and watched the little fly get killed Now I'm going to feel guilty just like those ants I stepped on when I was a kid...see now you are going to make me post something about flies...haha

Hopefully these things makes you appreciate life.

LIFESTYLE AND COMMUNICATION OF
ANTS​

“And before Solomon were marshalled his hosts – of Jinns and men and birds, and they were all kept in order and ranks. “At length, when they came to a (lowly) valley of ants, one of the ants said :
‘O ye ants, get into your habitations, lest Solomon and his hosts crush you (under foot) without knowing it.’”
[Al-Qur’an 27:17-18]

In the past, some people would have probably mocked at the Qur’an, taking it to be a book of fairy tales in which ants talk to each other and communicate sophisticated messages. In recent times however, research has shown us several facts about the lifestyle of ants, which were not known earlier to humankind. Research has shown that the animals or insects whose lifestyle is closest in resemblance to the lifestyle of human beings are the ants. This can be seen from the following findings regarding ants:

(a) The ants bury their dead in a manner similar to the humans.
(b) They have a sophisticated system of division of labour, whereby they have managers, supervisors, foremen, workers, etc.
(c) Once in a while they meet among themselves to have a ‘chat’.
(d) They have an advanced method of communication among themselves.
(e) They hold regular ‘markets’ where they exchange goods.
(f) They store grain for long periods in winter and if the grain begins to bud, they cut the roots, as if they understand that if they leave it to grow, it will rot. If the grain stored by them gets wet due to rains, they take it out into the sunlight to dry, and once dry, they take it back inside as though they know that humidity will cause development of root systems which will cause the grain to rot.

SubhanAllah all these insects, flies and spiders amaze me. When I watch them it teaches me something about my Creator and sumittng to the Creator. Even baby as young as a day old know what to do when he/she is hungry. And if you watch them grow you will see a formed personality in each one of them. It is our Lord who has made them. Why is it so difficult to see. Little over a week ago my garden was covered with snow. Today I saw my dafodil and tulip plants are already 5 inches above ground as if they were waiting patiently underground for snow to melt away. All Allah's creation follow Allah's commands except for humans. Why are humans so stuborn and arrogant to submit to their Lord.

I am quite sure that there are many documentaries about ANTS and their LIFESTYLES on DISCOVERY, NAT GEO and ANIMAL PLANET. But i think for the time being this might satisfy you my brother, inshaAllah.
