This is pretty much a copy of what happened in the Ubaidi (wrongly called Fatimid) nation, who called their leaders Khaleefas, and did similar actions, and said similar kufr, as recorded by many Muslim historians and scholars like Imam Al Dhahabi.

The Sheikh of Islam Ibn Taymiyah said about these Esoteric groups, Nusairis/Alawis, and others, that Jews and Christians are closer to Islam than them, and even the Brahmas of India. And that they are always happy with the defeat of Muslims, and sad when Muslims are victorious.
