Praise to Allah,

I was on some forums some day and got across a thread where a couple of atheists were talking about the infamous bad drawings of the Prophet peace be upon him. One of'em said the following:

"These Muslims are incredibly foolish. Every time somebody comes in and tell them somebody is insulting their prophet, they do such a mess and make them extremely famous. They think they're doing the right thing but they do exactly the opposite. That guy who draw those things is incredibly famous now, his book is a best seller, his newspaper is out of financial trouble thanks to the foolishness of those Muslim folks. He's such a smart guy, it was the cheapest, easiest way to success, worldwide free of charge heavy marketing. So is the thing for Salman Rushdie and Ayaan Hirsi Ali. If they didn't do what they did, they would have remained in the dark for ever..."

As salam alaikum,

In a world of free speech, is indeed a foolish thing to do. But a way to show that Prohet's figure shouldn't be insulted should be. There are religious dialogues, where the person together with his followers should be invited, and making clear that certain things should be held more responsibility before carrying. Indeed he would have been at dark, but some others would darkly remember him, and that is harder to work with. Isn't it that media is the main mean that has made islam religion a target?! We need to respond, but I always insist an organized, well thought response, not sporadic responses that gets us nowhere...

We alaikum salam

Brother firstly we Muslims will do anything to protest against the wrong doers against our Prophet :saw:
As Hadith says
The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is oppressed.” The Prophet was asked: “It is right to help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?” He replied: “By preventing him from oppressing others.”

{Sahih Bukhari, Volume 3, Hadith 624}

Narrated by Abu Sa'd al Khudri (Sahih Muslim, Hadith 79) Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said: "He who amongst you sees something abominable should modify it with the help of his hand; and if he has not strength enough to do that, then he should do it with his tongue; and if he has not strength enough to do even that, then he should (at least abhor it) from his heart; and that is the least of faith."

Secondly we know the truth on which path we are. They are the fools who are illiterate or dumb even after getting brains and not know the truth ,, the status of Prophet Mohammed :saw:

I can understand our frustration when it comes to people speaking badly of the Prophet SAWS, but when we get violent in protest, I feel it's as if we were tricked by the shaytan because it causes people to say " see how those Muslims get when you have any criticism against Islam! "

Islam is a way of life
Prophet muhammad (salalahu alayhi wa selam) did not want to be drawn because he did not want people to resort to idoltry like the Christians. He never said to kill anyone who drew him. People who "draw the Prophet" are not drawing the Prophet, because we dont know how he looked. They are merely drawing an older Arab man and saying 'Well this is Muhammad!"

There is no reason for some Muslims to act the way they act. Blowing up things and killing the Authors. Ya Allah....please help the state of this Ummah.

Praise to Allah,

In reality, they insulted the prophet peace be upon him deliberately. They knew what they were doing. But this is not new. What is new though is the way that it has been dealt with. The sum total of all the media noise was to the benefit of our enemies. It showed to the disbelieving world the savagery of the ignorant Muslim masses: Kill them, kill them, they shouted on a worldly scale. Amongst the protesters were "Muslim" people who insult and damn God and His religion all the time...

The objective was to make us give ourselves another good punch on the nose, and we did it so well. We must at least admit our collective foolishness, that'll make us wiser in the future.

Assalaam.
