i was just completing my tafseer of surah Al Ghaashiya and my teacher told us this:

the Rasoul (saw) meant in one of his statements that 'all the indolgement that someone can have in the dunya, will not be equal, to a moment that he will spend in the Jahanam. and that moment that he will spend, it will make him forget any enjoyment he had in his life. and all the pain that is in the dunya, when a person enters jannah and stays in it for a moment and leaves, it will be so joyful and beautiful to him that he will forget about all the pain that his been through in the life. and in your life, there is an example of that in your practical life, when you are in a state of happiness, you will forget anything bad that has happened to you, even if bad things happen to you during that week, you will not care.

but if you are overall in a state of hardship and even if good things happen to you, you will tend to not notice them. and the example of the akhira is bigger than example of the dunya.

there was an olama - called Iman Al Kazal or something not sure of his exact name i cant remember how my teacher said it because he said it too fast. but this olama / Iman rahimahoallah said:

there is nothing that relates to the akhira, except that allah has put an example / make you understand it in the dunya - so no one can have an excuse against him subhan wa taala or will say to him 'you have told me about something that i could not relate to in my life.

so remember there is an example in the dunya that relates to the akhira. if we look for it, we will find the example.

subhan allah, every time my teacher gives tafseer on a a surah, it relates to so many issues and facts and goes so far and has so much involved and so much information in that surah and helps relate olama and prophets statements and prove it. subhan allah the quran is bigger and more detail than what i expected. i hope i dont forget the tafseer of the surahs im working hard to study. i feel scared about this and i dont know what to do to help me not forget. i keep taking notes and so many points and notes and i go over them sometimes but there is so many and too many that it gets confusing. i wish my teacher could try to stay on the topic of the surah he is making tafseer of because im getting confused and finding it hard to catch up to because of the notes and examples and messages from prophets or olama that i like to record and keep note of, this makes it hard to focus on the tafseer and makes it hard to catch up and do revision. brothers and sisters do you get me?? or am i just plain stupid. i love love love and feel happy and excited when i hear about the messages the olama or prophets say and stories in the history etc, and i understand all this is related to tafseer in the quran and proves these issue, but sometimes its hard to remember them and hard to do revision because my teacher uses so much of these and sometimes they are not related to the surah but he says them because to give an example of when he iss trying to show the meaning of a world.

it took him 45 minutes last week to go through 6 verses form surah Ghaashiyah. i enjoyed the class and i was happy and excited to tell my husband what i learnt and i felt so nice. im not complaining, but i cant explain what i want or what im thinking or how i want to learn. i cant explain it. someone tell me what im trying to say. sometimes when i say to someone 'oh when i was learning the tafseer of this surah in class, the teacher told us this story or told us this and that' then they say 'how does that relate to the surah' i tell them it doesnt but he remembered it and told us.

but in reality, it was linked to something he was saying.

eg: you talk about something that happened to you then that helped you remember something else that is not related to the topic or is slightly about the topic.

okay, im not making sense, sorry. i hope someone can understand me.

i love my shariah class, classes, i do, i enjoy it. but its hard to do revision or remember the class or surah or topic because of what i said above. and this makes me scared of forgetting the surah or topic. maybe i need help to try not to forget the surah tafseer or topic. revision is not helping because half of it does not relate. help, help.

Dear sister , I think i can understand your feelings. First we must thank Allah sobhanahu wa taala for his guidance . Please read the following hadith:

The Prophet, sallallaahu ‘alayhi wa sallam, also said: “Any group of people who assemble in one of the Houses of Allaah to recite and study the Quran, tranquility will descend upon them, mercy will overwhelm them, angels will surround them, and Allaah will make mention of them [to the angels].”[Muslim]

When you listen to the tafseer and words of wisdom your heart is filled with tranquility, mercy, angels will be close . At those moments you are close to Allah sobhanahu wa taala . So your feelings are purified .....You want to keep such beauty in your heart. but when you are out you forget , you loose some beauty within .....this is natural .....I think the only way that we can retain such feelings is to be in touch with such lessons and good people who know better. We should try to obey the prophet salla Allah alaihi wa sallam , try to memorize Quran or at least listen to it. Give up the evils of our own souls. Pray with all our hearts, do our duties in life as Allah wants us . No one can cotain everything in his/her heart (we are humans) , we can learn step by step , we can work and do good. and may Allah guide us all to all that pleases him AAmen.

Assalaamu alaikum dear sister,

I understand your issue but I dont know how to help.......I ask Allaah to make everything easy for you and always purify your soul and increase your Imaan and taqwa. Gaining knowledge eases the path to Jannah because you'll implement everything you've learned in class to your daily life thus getting closer to Allaah ta'ala. Strive in learning and He subhanahu wata'ala will make it easy for you .
I ask Allaah to bless you with everything you desire but above all with the understanding of our deen and to make you of those who act upon that which they have learned. ameen

Dear Sister AOA

Well, to some extent I can understand what you are feeling. My suggestion is that first of all throw this thing out of your mind that you have to remember everything of you shariah class even at the cost of failure. Stop this notion that you have to succeed in remembering what all your teacher tells you. Do this even if it takes you to failure in the final results. When this is consciously done, then try to absorb knowledge only for you self-improvement and whenever you like some thing that your teacher tells you don't burden your mind by the thought that you have to remember it aswell. Just enjoy the idea of that thing and tally it with you past experiences. This way you would be able to extract the essence of that knowledge which is the basic idea of learning.

Hope it will help you in some regard

I think it's just wonderful that you are studying this. I think you want to do the best you can, and remember every little thing - insha'Allah, it will become easier and easier for you to remember these things in time. Just pay attention, as you're doing, and Allah will open your mind and heart, insha'Allah. Masha'Allah - you've made me want to go take lessons as well! Jazzaki Allah Khair.

If you want to really benefit from the class, a lot of effort is required both during, before and after lessons. The before and after being preparation for the next lesson and revision of the learned lesson respectively.

It is good that you have identified one area which hampers your learning process. That is to follow (or take down notes) while your teacher is lecturing (too fast/can't understand). In this case, a small voice recorder would be useful. This would help you to replay the lesson once more at home at your convenience and revise/correct your handwritten notes.

I do believe a lot of students of knowledge also tape their teachers/shuyukh. Many Mp3 players and cell phones have this feature nowadays. Or a small hand held recorder would serve for this purpose and have a more clear and sharper recording.

Hope this helps. Wasalaamalaykum waa rahmatullahi

to brotherinIslam and to all my other brothers and sisters who replied.

thanks heaps for your advice. 2 weeks ago, i addressed my issue to my teacher, he told me that when he first tried to learn Juz Al Ama, it took him 1 month to learn it off by heart, when he reached surah al Bakarah, it took him only 2 days for him to learn it off by heart. this was when he was a teenager. he trained his brain at it and his brain got use to it. he said it will become easy inshallah.

with the college im going to, they have online service incase someone was sick / absent, on holiday, busy, or cant attend the college and prefer to study from home, so i get audios on the lesson every time. if i attend the college, when i get home im finding it easy to stop and pause the audio while typing down almost everything my teacher says or at least summing the important points. this helps me heaps.

but im trying to make like a book thing or not sure what to call it but its just for me to help study and remember. this book thing im doing is about the tafseer of the quran. eg; chapter one, i type full details of a surah, chapter 2, full details and tafseer of the next surah, etc. this is what i was hoping for. so instead of me reading quran, i can read my little book / notes. but its a mess because of all the stories and other stuff i said that is analaysed with the quran. so i cant focus on the surah itself.

but i've read everyones post / messages, its beautiful and put noor in my heart and i feel so much better as in i got a few ideas. i can try to make 2 note book things, one where i can have my quran tafseer and surahs, and the other when the teacher says something not related to the surah i can type it down on a different page. and plus, i've decided not to attend the class itself so it doesnt get me upset or stress out, i can just study from home and listen to the audios and the teacher said i can have videos too. so i feel i might have some ideas but that only because of what my brothers and sisters helped me and gave me advice.

i was out tonight so when i just returned and saw all the replies, i felt i was in tears because i was so happy that these beautiful duas were made to me. i felt special.

thank you to all. may allah increase our knowledge.

im so sorry but im really slow right now and i cant analyse it in my head. i have this problem sometimes. it happens in sharia studies too. but sometimes my head is clear and can analyse something from the first time i read it. but it sounds like a good idea but i cant understand it right. please tell me.

oh my god, mashallah, this is exactly how i feel. during shariah studies no matter how complicated it is or i dont understand something, i still feel so happy and proud that im pressent there and im trying very hard to learn. i still feel blessed and beautiful and amazing. i enjoy every minute of it at feel like i dont want the class to end. and then later i forget something from shariah class, i loose this and become upset and not happy with myself. when i do revision i feel like my heart is open like its free. i cant explain it. but then i forget it again. lol. silly me. i have a bad memory.

does anyone know how i can fix my memory? lol. silly me.

its true, practicing what i learn will bring me closer to Allah and helps. thank you and thanks to all. may allah give everyone who helped me a gift from me because i cant gift you. i ask allah to gift you. :tti_sister:

Hadith - Qudsi

Allah (glorified and exalted be He) has supernumerary angels who rove about seeking out gatherings in which Allah's name is being invoked: they sit with them and fold their wings round each other, filling that which is between them and between the lowest heaven. When [the people in the gathering] depart, [the angels] ascend and rise up to heaven. He (the Prophet p.b.u.h.) said: Then Allah (mighty and sublime be He) asks them - [though] He is most knowing about them: From where have you come?

And they say: We have come from some servants of Yours on Earth: they were glorifying You (Subhana llah), exalting you (Allahu akbar), witnessing that there is no god but You (La ilaha illa llah), praising You (Al-Hamdu lillah), and asking [favours] of You. He says: And what do they ask of Me? They say: They ask of You Your Paradise. He says: And have they seen My Paradise? They say: No, O Lord. He says: And how would it be were they to have seen My Paradise! They say: And they ask protection of You. He says: From what do they ask protection of Me? They say: From Your Hell-fire, O Lord. He says: And have they seen My Hell-fire? They say: NO. He says: And how would it be were they to have seen My Hell-fire: They say: And they ask for Your forgiveness.

He (the Prophet p.b.u.h) said: Then He says: I have forgiven them and I have bestowed upon them what they have asked for,and I have granted them sanctuary from that from which they asked protection. He (the Prophet p.b.u.h) said: They say: O Lord, among then is So-and-so, a much sinning servant, who was merely passing by and sat down with them. He (the Prophet p.b.u.h) said: And He says: And to him [too] I have given forgiveness: he who sits with such people shall not suffer.

I pray that Allah make our gathering on this forum a blessed forgiven one.

Ya Allah we ask you a high rank in Paradise and save us from Hell AAmen.

i did cry reading the hadith you mentioned. i want to thank you so much. i love hearing about how great Allah subhana wa talala is and what happens during the times we are doing worship and how subhan allah so much happens and we cant see it only feel the blessings in our hearts.

Dear sister you are normal , your faith is alive inshaAllah please read the following verse:

إِنَّمَا الْمُؤْمِنُونَ الَّذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ اللّهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَإِذَا تُلِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ آيَاتُهُ زَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَانًا وَعَلَى رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَ (8:2)

Innama almuminoona allatheena itha thukira Allahu wajilat quloobuhum waitha tuliyat AAalayhim ayatuhu zadathum eemanan waAAala rabbihim yatawakkaloona

8:2 (Picktall) They only are the (true) believers whose hearts feel fear when Allah is mentioned, and when the revelations of Allah are recited unto them they increase their faith, and who trust in their Lord;

More:

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ الْمُؤْمِنُونَ (23:1)

Qad aflaha almuminoona

23:1 (Picktall) Successful indeed are the believers -

الَّذِينَ هُمْ فِي صَلَاتِهِمْ خَاشِعُونَ (23:2)

Allatheena hum fee salatihim khashiAAoona

23:2 (Picktall) Who are humble in their prayers,

I am very happy to hear that about you , This what a believer should be .....we should struggle to soften our hearts to come closer to our creator.

The hard heart is far from Allah sobhanahu wa taala.

Continue your good efforts ......Plaese keep me and my family in your duaa....

Greetings of angels

<<The Prophet said: "If your hearts were always in the state that they are in during dhikr, the angels would come to see you to the point that they would greet you in the middle of the road." Muslim narrated it.>>

Dear sister ; the hadith talks mostly about feelings which cannot be said but felt and Allahu knows best ; The following hadiths mske things more clear:

The Prophet ( Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said:

" There is a polish for everything, for the hearts it is Dhikr of Allah."

He has also said:

" Those who remember Allah and those who do not are like those who are alive and those who are dead." (i.e. who remember Allah and celebrate, His praises are alive and those who do not are dead.)

The Prophet (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam) was once asked who would be the most exalted among the servants of Allah on the Last Day, He (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam) replied

" Those who remember Allah, be they men or women."

The Prophet ( Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) once advised one of his companions.

" Keep your tongue always employed in repeating the name of Allah."

Negligence towards Dhikr causes more and more retrogression. Those who close their hearts and tongues to Allah are deprived of all divine virtues, their hearts get hardened and they - become close associates of the devils. (Copied)

When a person learn Islam and it`s noble teachings and feel the bounties of his Lord and what is the purpose of his/her being here on earth then a true bright light shine within our souls ; Light of truth. And Allah knows best.
