Spreading Dawah

What difficulties do we face in the dawah work in our society?
What is dawah
Dawah means: To pass on Islamic knowledge to others.

What Dawah could change
What do most people think when they see a Muslim? Terrorist bombings? An uneducated foreigner with whom you have little or nothing in common? A person trying to change what you believe or your culture?
Most people don’t realise that Islam is meant to be a respectful, peaceful community. That we are not meant to force people to believe, nor kill an innocent person.
If we took the time to spread dawah, it could change the way people think about Islam, and things like racism might not be so common anymore.

Things that stop from spreading dawah
1. Racism: People do not like it when someone else is racist and try to avoid it, whilst others get angry and start to shout or say something racist back.
2. Fashion: Some people try to fit in with today’s fashion they abandon they’re culture and lose the modesty a Muslim woman should have.
3. Knowledge: Some people don’t take time to learn about Islam and so don’t have the knowledge to pass on.
These are just three reasons why people don’t spread dawah they are more.

What happens if we don’t spread dawah

Hadith: In a town they will be only 1 man in the whole place who will pray to Allah, whereas the rest of the town. His prayer will be sincere and correct. However on the day of judgement he will go to hell. This is because he did not give dawah to the rest of the town, it was his duty as a fellow Muslim to help the people.

Likewise it is compulsory on a Muslim to spread dawah, to help fellow Muslims and others in your community. However we should only spread on our knowledge if we know its true. E.g. To tell a Muslim friend that it is necessary to wear a scarf, give them proof like an ayat from the Quran or a strong Hadith. As some people may want to be given evidence of what is told to them.

How it connects with the Prophets visit to the people of Taif
The people of Taif were ignorant and proud like people are these days. They think they
cannot be punished by Allah, they think their power is untouchable and that no one can
do anything to harm them.
If a person had mocked us we would not have walked away we would say something back to them, this shows how much patience they Prophet had.
The people of Taif are like people now, they do not understand how important it is, but we should not force it on them, if we have told them and they choose not to listen it is they’re choice.

We should spread the word of Islam whenever possible because Allah will question us we do not. If a person chooses not to listen it is their choice, we have to do our part to help Islam, just like the Prophet (PBUH) did for us when he spread the word of Islam.
