Yemen: Still no confirmation of martyrdom of Sheikh Anwar al-Awlaki
Publication time: 4 October 2011, 12:50

There is still no evidence of martyrdom of Islamic scholar and preacher, despite the fact that the US president Barack Obama has officially announced the killing of Sheikh Anwar al-Awlaki.

The Yemen Post reports that last Sunday, more than 25 tribal leaders of Awaliq, relatives of Sheikh Anwar al-Awlaki, arrived in the province Jaaf to identify his body, which, according to the official version, was to remain in place of American UAV strike.

However, no evidence was found suggesting that the body of Sheikh al-Awlaki was among the dead. Among the people visited the place was the father of a preacher, a former puppet minister and the dean of a local university.

In addition, the tribal leaders of the province Jaaf said to family of Anwar al-Awlaki that he was not killed.

Sources indicate at the absence of any evidence that among the five killed was Sheikh al-Awlaki. Moreover, according to local tribal leaders, a DNA expertise can prove it.

According to a claim of Yemen Post, one of the most influential leaders of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula also refuted the claims of invaders and puppets about the martyrdom of Anwar al-Awlaki. However, the name of the Al Qaeda leader was not mentioned.

It is to be recalled that earlier, the Anwar's brother, al-Ahmad Awlaki, declared by Saleh's regime "wanted" for "concealment of whereabouts of his brother", said that "Anwar was alive and not in the same group of vehicles, which hit by an American pilotless combat aircraft on Friday morning".

Yemen Post also reports that the leadership of Al Qaeda denied also the death of "senior specialist in the explosions", Ibrahim Hassan al-Asiri. He heads a list of Muslims whom Saudi authorities want to take prisoner.

It is argued that it was Al-Asiri who sent in October 2010 from Yemen two bombs to the addresses of Jewish organizations in Chicago, via courier mail services. These parcels were intercepted in the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.

In addition, his is "suspecting" in an attempt to undermine the passenger aircraft in Detroit by "Christmas" in 2009.

It is to be mentioned in this connection that after the triumphant reports of the murder of "the chief ideologist" of al-Qaeda, the US has managed to declare that while they "unable to confirm" the presence of al-Asiri in cars exposed to missile attack.

Therefore we cannot completely exclude that after some time the Americans just like that "cannot confirm" the presence of Sheikh Anwar al-Awlaki in the vehicle.
