Strange question

Today an aunt of mine asked me to find info on a topic, so I"m hoping maybe somebody can help. She heard from someone that we're not supposed to eat any part of bones, as bones are food for jinn. Is this correct?

Found a hadees, reportedly in Bukhari. Allah and Rasool knows better. But before you concrete and link it to this hadees, be aware, we dont know anything much about the jinn, vis a vis known living things in the human world. Jinn is creation which we cannot easily conceive in our mind. Curious though most of us are/were.

To help easily connect to this "inability to conceive a jinn " in our mind, there are many Extra terrestrial scientists [okay, dont laugh] who are of the opinion, that there must be living being out there or well very close to earth, staring right us, but we humans are not fully aware of it. They say , nor can we conceive how these Extra terrestrials are. Yes, theirs is speculative. But existence of jinn is not speculative, its concrete, they exist, though not all of us have encountered!

As far as I remember about the hadith is that ( sorry I can not give number of the hadith in Bukhari or in other hadith book. May some knowledgeable borther or sister will help us) our Prophet forbade us not to clean ourselves with bones after bathroom necessity because they are the food of our brother jinns.

But I do not know any hadith about not eating any part of bones and I doubt it. On the contrary we should eat what ever portion of the bones we can and like to eat. That way we are not wasting food.

May Allah Subhanu wa Taa'ah forgive me if I have written something wrong.

Brother strive, I'm sorry, but I really didn't get what you're saying. As muslims, we believe in the existence of the jinn 100%, and there is no doubt in our mind. So I have no clue what you're trying to say, sorry.

Dawud reported from 'Amir who said: I asked 'Alqama if Ibn Mas'ud was present with the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) on the night of the Jinn (the night when the Holy Prophet met them). He (Ibn Mas'uad) said: No, but we were in the company of the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) one night and we missed him. We searched for him in the valleys and the hills and said. He has either been taken away (by jinn) or has been secretly killed. He (the narrator) said. We spent the worst night which people could ever spend. When it was dawn we saw him coming from the side of Hiri'. He (the narrator) reported. We said: Messenger of Allah, we missed you and searched for you, but we could not find you and we spent the worst night which people could ever spend. He (the Holy Prophet) said: There came to me an inviter on behalf of the Jinn and I went along with him and recited to them the Qur'an. He (the narrator) said: He then went along with us and showed us their traces and traces of their embers. They (the Jinn) asked him (the Holy Prophet) about their provision and he said: Every bone on which the name of Allah is recited is your provision. The time it will fall in your hand it would be covered with flesh, and the dung of (the camels) is fodder for your animals. The Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him) said: Don't perform istinja with these (things) for these are the food of your brothers (Jinn).[Muslim :: Book 4 : Hadith 903]

Ah, that apology is not needed. I was trying to say it might be better to not imagine the 'jinns food' along the lines of our food.

Brothers (Shahzad and Itqan) have given better replies. Read the hadees, its there.

Read this '... to jinn' explanation for Salaam at end of Salaat, which appeared in forum today

I believed it was due to saying salaams to the Angels (when praying alone). But then someone said it was saying salaams to the Jinn. I was confused.

What you heard and the above, they have the same thought train - 'Do it for Jinns'. Most are incorrect. There is interaction between species in human world, and humans are at top of chain. But does shariah suggest or mandate actions "from humans" to "jinns" or angels", no.

And Allah knows best.

Okay, I understand now. JazakAllahu Khayr for the explanations. This makes sense - no where did the Prophet :saw2: tell us to "do" anything for the Jinn, we just need to have the knowledge and the belief that they are there.
