SubhanAllah! ♥
The picture is that of a 21-week-old unborn baby named Samuel Alexander Armas, who is being operated on by surgeon named Joseph Bruner.
The baby was diagnosed with spina bifida and would not survive if removed from his mother's womb. Little Samuel's mother, Julie Armas, is an obstetrics nurse in Atlanta. She knew of Dr. Bruner's remarkable surgical procedure. Practicing at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, he performs these special operations while the baby is still in the womb. During the procedure, the doctor removes the uterus via C-section and makes a small incision to operate on the baby. ♥ As Dr. Bruner completed the surgery on Samuel, the little guy reached his tiny, but fully developed
hand through the incision and firmly grasped the surgeon's finger.
Dr.Bruner was reported as saying that when his finger was grasped,
it was the most emotional moment of his life, and that for
an instant during the procedure he was just frozen, totally immobile. ♥

The photograph captures this amazing event with perfect clarity.
The editors titled the picture, "Hand of Hope." The text explaining the picture begins,
"The tiny hand of 21-week-old fetus Samuel Alexander Armas
emerges from the mother's uterus to grasp the finger of Dr. Joseph
Bruner as if thanking the doctor for the gift of life."
Little Samuel's mother said they "wept for days" when they saw the picture. She said, "The photo reminds us pregnancy isn't about disability or an illness, it's about a little person"
Samuel was born in perfect health, the operation 100 percent successful.

Subhan Allah Ta'ala who said: ♥ "We will show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth. But is it not sufficient concerning your Lord that He is, over all things, a Witness? Unquestionably, they are in doubt about the meeting with their Lord. Unquestionably He is, of all things, encompassing. " ♥
(Al Qur'aan 41:53-54)

This is a hoax, or in the least a very inaccurate description of the event. I watched the actual documentary on this years ago. The surgery was to repair a spina bifida opening so the child would not be crippled after being born. The child was actually under anesthesia and not conscious at all. The doc reached in and lifted the hand out of the womb to show how small the fetus was during the surgery.

Given that the operation required two incisions down the length of the child's back, as well as some extensive suturing, it is a good thing the child was not "awake" and aware or else he would've been writhing in pain. For some reason people took this picture and started a false campaign stating the child reached out and grasped the surgeon's hand. I don't know why the procedure and the fact that the child has full use of his legs isn't miracle enough. Instead people have to go and embellish the story.

May Allah reward you for your best intentions dear brother. Life itself is a miracle for those who are willing to reflect. The verse from Quran that you mentioned is one of the verses most dear to me. And please do not mind what our sister ShyHijabi wrote. She is a medical doctor and I admire her effort which has always been to delve into the roots of things. I can assure you she has good intentions and stated it purely to prevent her brothers and sisters from redicule and from being the victims of misinformation.

Jazakallah khair

Thank for clearing the misunderstanding. It's time we investigate the whole case all over again. Time to check the documentary, and read the articles related to this.

If you wish to inspect the element, please go through following list

1) Astronauts able see ''Macca" from the Moon

2) Indian Astronaut reverts to Islam after witness to above mentioned miracle.

3) Astronauts discover the ''Line'' wherein Moon split into two parts, proving miracle performed by Muhammad (SAW).

4) Macca is the center of the world.

5) Famous personalities......., ........, ........, etc reverted to Islam. Rumors ans Rumors and Rumors.

6)....................List is very very long.

And for me Surah ''Ikhlas'' is sufficient to believe in Divinity of Quran and hence Islam.

Assalamu alaikum brother Sachin4Islam

I checked the link that you posted and it says under its name "Rumour has it" which means the website is reporting rumours, not solid evidence. Unfortunately, rumour would not be enough in serious issues. I also checked about the reversion of Sunita Williams. All I could find is some one with Islamic looking nickname here and there is mentioning her reversion without any reference to a reliable source and the non-muslims are rediculing the idea everywhere which is embarassing. We should not feel the need to be rest assured by some big personalities (specifically from the west) that Islam is true. The testify can come only from the depths of our hearts and souls and, thanks to Allah, that is exactly the case with almost every Muslim. For me, you are the real example of such reversion as you testified it yourself that before you were in the dark and now you found the light, all praises and thanks to Allah the mighty, the high.

Assalam Alaikum: Dear Br. Bawar.

Thanks for your words. I appreciate them. My grandfather is 86 and he is very near to accept truth of Islam. I think in Islamic perspective if my Grandfather accepts the truth it is equally significant if an internationally fame personality accepts Islam. For disbelievers it may be an issue if a famous personality reverts but for we Muslims all must be equally welcomed to Deen of Allah.

THE BEAUTY OF ISLAM IS THAT THERE IS NO ONE BETWEEN ALLAH AND MOMEEN. EVEN IF I AM ALONE TO FOLLOW ISLAM,AMONGST A MASSIVE STRENGTH OF DISBELIEVERS NEARBY,I WILL BE HAPPIEST PERSON FOR ALLAH CHOOSE ME FROM THE CROWD,NO MATTERS IF ANY FAMOUS PERSONALITY DOESN'T ADHERES TO THE TRUTH

Salaam brother,

I did not mean to imply a "punch" or to make you embarrassed. I've received this story from numerous sources, usually prolife folks, and correct them as well. I remember watching the documentary and the parents were very devout Catholics and felt strongly about the sanctity of life. So this amazing surgery was performed while the fetus was still in the womb and later on delivered on his due date.

Isn't that amazing! Whats even more remarkable is that he showed leg movement which meant the surgery was successful. You see, spina bifida is an opening from the spinal cord to the outside. The amniotic fluid is corrosive to the spinal tissue and this the babies are usually born paraplegic or quadriplegic....or dead. :( If the surgery is performed early enough in pregnancy they can keep the spinal cord from being damaged.

I'll never forget seeing his little arm being lifted out of the womb and shown to the camera, it was breath taking. And I don't have FB (I am too paranoid to have my personal info/pic online lol) so I won't be able to follow Bilal Philips online. But there is always Youtube.

Assalaam walaikum,

So good to see you posting, Sister Shyhijabi.

Anyhow...I once read most surgery on neonates is usually performed without using any anesthetics; the neonate has not developed a low threshold of pain yet...and wanted to know if this was accurate.

:salam2:

Actually this used to be true for neonates. Scientists believed that infants did not feel pain and therefore performed surgery with no anesthesia and just a paralytic. Awful, isn't it? No we know that infants and fetuses can indeed feel pain at the same level but don't express it like we do.

Fetal surgery for myelomeningocele (spina bifida) can arrest leakage of spinal fluid during gestation (pregnancy), and might therefore prevent or reverse malformations that contribute to neurologic dysfunction.

In a randomized trial, outcomes of infants undergoing fetal surgery were compared with those for infants undergoing standard myelomeningocele repair shortly after birth. Fetal surgery significantly reduced the risk of death or need for shunt placement during the first year of life, and resulted in improved scores for mental development and motor function at 30 months of age. These benefits occurred despite a higher risk of preterm delivery among infants undergoing fetal surgery.

SubhanAllah! A miracle indeed!
