Question: Tahajjud

Mahzala

فَتَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ أَحْسَنُ الْخَالِقِينَ
Tahajjud is more commonly known for its time rather than for what is performed and refers to any prayer performed after having slept a portion of the night in between the ending of Isha and beginning of Fajr. Waking up for the prayer is the distinction between Qiyaam al Lail (standing in prayer at night - and other acts of worship) and Tahajjud (sleeping and waking for prayer - specifically prayer). The prayer itself doesn't have any specifics, it is like any other nawaafil prayer, which is done by performing sets of two rakaah's, depending on your ability. These sets can also depend on whether you performed Witr with Isha or have left it to the last portion of the night. But that is a different matter, and has been discussed very thoroughly in the past (here), so I will not confuse you further. And so, to answer your question, sleep a bit after Isha, wake up in the third part of the night, before Fajr, and pray. That is Tahajjud. Simple :)
