Ta'la al badru alayna

Asalaamu alaikum...

I've been curious about this song/nasheed for some time. I know it was sung by the people of Medinah when our Prophet salallahu alayhi wa salaam was approaching. But I'm wondering about the historical accuracy of the tune itself. I mean, I know that the lyrics could possibly found in a hadith somewhere (are they? I don't know) but how does one keep musical notes from being changed? Were they written down too?

I guess what I'm asking is... is there a historical accuracy to this song/nasheed with proof and authentic chain, or is it just whimsy?

JazakAllah khairyn

Assalamualaykum wa rahmatullah,

Thank you for bringing up this matter. Yeah, I've been listening to this "song" since I was little I guees. Never knew of the authenticity though. And it is quite famously known around here too. Sometimes included along in the dhikir ba'daa solaat.
