TEN, TEN AND TEN

hm... well im gonna ask a question....actually a biiiig doubt which troubles me a lot...
I heard that the first ten days of RAMADAAN is meant for ALLAH TALA's mercy
while the other ten days are separated for His forgiveness and the last ten are specially meant for the protection of fire.....
now my question is
IS THIS AUTHENTIC????????????? im sorry if im sounding crazy....
Im asking this 'coz i went through the hadeeth collection but I did never find such a hadeeth...
if any one of you know the reference number....PLEASE DO TELL ME WHERE IT IS?????

the problem is that, iv heard alot of imams saying this and beliveing in it.so im not really sure, allah knows best.no wonder this ummah is divided and going through soo many problems.i hear imams saying it nearly everyday...
