One of the wonderful things that exist in the Muslim homes is the cooperation of the couples in obeying Allah. This is the beautiful faithful home. The prophet, peace be upon him, gave us an amazing example to it. He said "May Allah has mercy on a man who gets up at night and prays, and awakens his wife; if she refuses, he would sprinkle water on her face. May Allah have mercy on a woman who gets up at night and prays, and awakens her husband; if he refuses, she would sprinkle water on his face." Sprinkle water is a beautiful, educational and disciplinary style. A style that combines between humor and gaiety, as well as education and purification (of souls).Sprinkle water doesn't mean pouring a lot of it. No, but it means spraying little drops of it that caress the face and the cheeks. These simple jokes between the spouses lead to a wonderful and quiet life.
Why did she awaken him? And why did he awaken her? This is to pray to Allah in the darkness of the night. They seek to be written as a man and woman who engage much in Allah's praise.
No one should think that the good treatment to the wife is confined in spending on her food or providing her with suitable accommodation, or sleeping with her. The good treatment has various kinds.
Good treatment in saying kind words to her.
Good treatment in spending on her and provides her with whatever she needs.
Good treatment in not charging her with hard works and in not forcing her to do what may harm her.
Good treatment in dealing well with her children and her family.
Good treatment is in giving her a present after a present.
All of these treatments are commanded by Allah to his slaves, and Allah loves the doers of good.
Some men may get angry when their wives ask them for money to buy things for the house or when they spend some money on their wives and children.
A lot of problems may be occurred because of the money the husband spends on his family although it may be his duty to do so.
Besides, he may forget that it is on of the greatest ways of spending. It is the greatest way of charity is the charity on the relatives.
Keeping the intention in mind" it's the main case indeed, “Actions are but by intentions and each person will have but that which he intended.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (1) and Muslim (1907). Therefore, it was mentioned in hadteeth". Whatever you spend will be considered a Sadaqa (charity) for you, even the mouthful of food you put in the mouth of your wife." It's a charity he'll be rewarded with.
The best money man may spend is that which he spends on his family, his wife and his children. If you keep the intention in mind, this expenditure will be considered as charity as was reported in the saheeh ahadeeth.
He eats and drinks with his family while intended that he prevents them from the prohibited. He sates his hunger to grow them up on the meanings of Islam and he looks after them. Besides, the intention that he is responsible for them in front of Allah. If he have all these intentions in his mind, these expenditure will turn to be charities and obedience.
This was the way that our prophet used to deal with his wives and he is the best of us.
He said" The best among you are those who are the best to their wives".
