:The biggest misconception about Islam:

Assalam Alaikum:

What is the biggest misconception about Islam spread amongst Non-Muslims?.

I will write here about this biggest misconception concluding from my own observations and experiences.

The most uncleared and persisting misconception about Islam is about the Creator. Most Non-Muslims I come across perceive ''Allah (SWT)'' as an Islamic God and not as an Universal Creator.

A Hindu fundamentalist from a conservative outfit once said me '' we know what Muslims announce via Adhan five times a day,let them take Allah as their God and Muhammad (SAW) as messenger of Allah,we have no problem, let them announce that only Allah (SWT) is worthy of worship,we know whom to worship"

The residential area where I dwell, most of the residents have never interacted with a Muslim socially or economically or in else way(there are half a million Muslims in my city). What they know about Islam is a big list of misconceptions. For them Islam is a strange religion and Allah (SWT) their God. Most of their words (negative) about Islam spring out only during communal frenzy.

Dear Brothers and sisters therefore a prerequisite of Dawah to a Non-Muslim is introducing at first to the disbeliever about universality of Islam and our Creator.

:salam2:

U knw bhai most of my frnd (muslims) r unable to define Allah..how ever they all knw Surah Ikhlas right from the beginning n do recite in their prayers...... My worst exp was during last christmas wn i was trying to explain my frndz n reatives ovr the topic of christmas........one of sister (muslim by birth) told me "Bhai Allah has mentioned Isa (as) as his son naa, cz he has got no father....My mother told me this"............

i was like huhhh...

on ur side i think most of the problm is due to the fact that we read Quran without understanding....just for blessing..

(u knw i v invited almost all my frndz to join TTI so that they may get some hidaya but till date no one has.. :( but yup they remain active on FB 24x7)

Asalamualikum...
Brother sachin what you said is 100% correct. In india the indian culture is mixed with islam and is considered islam by many muslims. We don't know what we are doing, just going in the heard. Many people think just offering prayers 5 times a day and reading quran in arabic without giving a second thought to know what the quran say is islam, which is not.And this story is the same with pakistan and bangladesh. If this was the deal then islam in sweden would have been a disaster if mixed with swedish culture.
As you said about misconception about the word ALLAH which many people think is a god for muslim just like any indian god and i agree with you.
Brother i want to write more but i am tired and have to goto bed.But i really appriciate that you scratch your head and bring some nice threads here.. :D juzz kidding..
Take care
Jazakallah hu khair

Assalam Alaikum:

Thanks Br Tariq and Abdul for your replies. Few months back a computer vendor was my home for repairing my system. I talked with him about Islam. To my surprise the guy never read translation of quran. I gifted him a translation of Quran. This is the case with majority of Muslims from Sub-Continent. Even the scholars from deviant sects emphasise that Muslims should not go through translation of Quran lest they would go astrayed and their (of scholars) business would ruin.

The irony is that even Muslims have not left any effort to propagate Islam as their own property.
