Alhamdulillahi wassalatu wassalamu alaa rasoolillah. Amma ba’ad.

The answer to your question is found in the Quran in the Aayah:

“And those who (accepted and) followed the guidance (of Allah), He increases them in guidance and gives them their Taqwa.” [Surah Muhammad; verse 17]

This Aayah infers that the guidance and good deeds leads to increase in Eemaan, while sins and misguidance leads to decrease in Eemaan. So the answer is in worship to Allaah and to have Istiqaamah (steadfastness) on the Right path and on Salafiyyah and keeping away from sins.

“…….and the Believers may increase in Faith…….” [Surah Mudatthir; verse 31]

In this Aayah, Allaah relates Eemaan to the believers. The believers who Allaah is referring to in this Aayah have strove in obedience to their Lord and in doing good deeds and hence He increased them in Eemaan and granted them guidance.

Furthermore, the disease of a decreasing Eemaan is very dangerous and Eemaan decreases because of sins that the individual commits, so to increase Eemaan it is upon the individual to give up that sin . This is important because the lower and lower your Eemaan goes, it will corrupt your heart and soul and if the heart is corrupted the whole body is corrupted as in the Hadith of the Prophet salallahu alayhi wasallam:

Narrated An-Nu’man bin Bashir: I heard Allah’s Apostle salallahu alayhi wasallam saying, “Both legal and illegal things are evident but in between them there are doubtful (suspicious) things and most of the people have no knowledge about them. So whoever saves himself from these suspicious things saves his religion and his honor. And whoever indulges in these suspicious things is like a shepherd who grazes (his animals) near the Hima (private pasture) of someone else and at any moment he is liable to get in it. (O people!) Beware! Every king has a Hima and the Hima of Allah on the earth is His illegal (forbidden) things. Beware! There is a piece of flesh in the body if it becomes good (reformed) the whole body becomes good but if it gets spoilt the whole body gets spoilt and that is the heart.” (Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 2, Number 49).

So it is very important to be scared from Allaah and entering into His Himaa.
