Assalaam walaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh.

Hello all, long time no see. I suppose we should have a chat room.

Anyway, I'm here to discuss about the four temperaments. They're the skeletons of our personality.

So here's the details of these temperaments. Please ignore the Christian parts.

Melancholic-http://www.fisheaters.com/quizm.html

Choleric-http://www.fisheaters.com/quizc.html

Phlegmatic-http://www.fisheaters.com/quizp.html

Sanguine-http://www.fisheaters.com/quizs.html

So what's your temperament?

My primary temperament is Melancholic and secondary is Phlegmatic.

Oooh, Tibb an Nabawiy, I absolutely fell in love with this topic when I was first introduced to it many years ago, did a crash course on it in my final year of school and it's something I would recommend to anyone and everyone.

The beauty of Tibb an Nabawiy is that it brings in a person's diet, lifestyle, emotions, interaction with the environment and even spiritual factors into consideration. In administering any treatment, or prevention which is at its core, the knowledge of uniqueness of the individual is very important, thus these temperaments. Our temperaments are a combination of our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual characteristics, and it has been said, that just as we can't change our fingerprints, so you can't change your temperament. You are the way you are. Each of us is a combination of all four, but you have a dominant temperament too. Understanding your temperament can help you plan your diet, and choose activities that will promote a healthy lifestyle, lead to productivity and allow you to live in harmony with yourself and the world around you.

There is so much to be shared in order to understand the root of these temperaments. Great share Hydden :)

So, I couldn't help myself coming back to this topic ... :rugby: And so I would like to share this poem by Florence Littauer:

Allah could have made us all Sanguinous.
We could have lots of fun but accomplish little.
He could have made us all Melancholics.
We would have been organised and chartered, but not very cheerful.
He could have made us all Bilious*.
We would have been set to lead, but impatient that no one would follow!
He could have made us all Phelgamtics.
We would have had a perfect world but not much enthusiasm for life.
We need each temperament for the total functioning of the body.
Each part should do its work to unify the action and produce harmonious results.

Not very poetic, but when you know the temperaments, it actually makes sense. So, I guess I am saying, it is obvious that each of us is a combination of all four personality types, however, with one being the dominant. And going back to Tibb an Nabawiy, the most evenly balanced of all temperaments in human beings is that of a true believer. The most evenly balanced of all temperaments among the believers are the temperaments of the Prophets. And the most evenly balanced of temperaments of all the Prophets is the temperament of the blessed Prophet Muhammad, salallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam.

*Hydden has used the term Choleric.
