Salaam 'Alaikum,
InshaAllah you are all well and meriting the full benifits of Ramadan.
إِنَّمَا يَخۡشَى ٱللَّهَ مِنۡ عِبَادِهِ ٱلۡعُلَمَـٰٓؤُاْۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ غَفُورٌ
"It is only those who have knowledge among His slaves that fear Allâh. Verily, Allâh is All¬Mighty, Oft Forgiving"
[Fatir: 28]
A few nights ago, during tahajjud, i notice an astonishing act of humility. A certain very well known scholar - will not name him to preserve the pureness of his sincerety - was sitting on the egde of the first row, waiting like the rest of us for Qiyam ul Layl to start. I recognised him and took a glance. At that moment a volunteer of the Masjid also recognised him, and suggested something to him. Thereafter, he got up and went to the back of the hall behind everyone else. I didnt know what words were spoken, but felt the Shaykh had a dissapointed look on his face as he walked off.
I asked some people sitting near me what had happened; i shiver went through my back when he told me. He said the volunteer had suggested he should sit in the middle of the row, the place reserved for the imams and reciters of the mosque. On hearing this, the Shaykh got up and went to the back. The volunteer looked puzzled, but i knew then the Shaykh was simply reminding himself of his humble station. SubhanAllah!
May Allah make us all possess the humility and piety shown by this Servant of Allah.
