I have a query about a husband's duty to spend on his wife and children. If the husband allows his wife to work outside the home, does he have the right to expect her to spend on the family, and he spends more or less nothing? The husband has some debts so he wants to save up to repay them, and is expecting his wife to cover all the household expenses. What is the Islamic ruling here? Is the wife expected to spend on the household, with no help from her husband, or should he spend, or should they share the expenses? Please give me some advice. The wife feels ashamed to refuse, as she says her husband has allowed her to work....should she feel like this? Or is it still the husband's duty to spend, and can she refuse to spend from her salary?
