The Meeting of Islam and Science

Asalaamu alaikum brothers and sisters,

I have been reading several things here and there as I go about learning about Islam.

One thing I most recently learned was that the Qu'ran supports the Big Bang theory in several verses. I had no idea that any holy book did so in any way (not just in regards to the Big Bang, but any scientific matters).

I am very interested to know where else religion and science meet in a similar way. Can anyone suggest any books or perhaps do you know off the top of your head of similar instances?
