Hi all,
I'm a committed Christian, been having some great discussions with a really neat Muslim, he's probalby in here somewhere, but we got to some serious differences between Islam and Christianity, and he preferred not to answer, but directed me here.
So, i'm especially looking for some who would like to discuss, in love, the differences between the teachings of the Quran against the teachings of the Bible.
Where my friend passed was on a couple of items:
1 The Bible teaches that Jesus/Isa repeatedly told his disciples that he was going to Jerusalem to die on the cross, and to be raised up after three days. The Quran teaches that he didn't.
2 The Bible teaches that Jesus repeatedly received/accepted worship (and taught that only God was allowed to receive worship) and yet Islam holds him as a prophet, therefore unworthy to receive worship.

I think that should do for now, although there are other things, such as the concept of sin, and the payment for that sin, but that can come later.

I fellowship regularly in an African church in Auckland NZ, love reading the Bible, and love teaching it.

I have a wife and young son, and teach programming in a tertiary institute.

Looking forward to our discussions,

In love,

Michael

welcome,

do know there is a lot that is common between Christianity and Islam. It is just that many have parted away from the message the God brought to man. The best I can do for you is refer you to someone who was a Christian, and had a sincere effort to find what is true. It will give you kinda of a basis to inquire with what you know, by yourself and for yourself.

I wouldn't be of any help to you since I never read the bible. Also I am not a comparative person either, but I did grow up in a almost complete Christian society, and there is a lot of wrong information about Islam here. And they compare with what they here in gossip and not of truth.

again welcome and do enjoy your stay.

The Bible teaches that Jesus repeatedly received/accepted worship (and taught that only God was allowed to receive worship) and yet Islam holds him as a prophet, therefore unworthy to receive worship.

first of all warm welcome and we assure you we love jesus pbuh as much , you see one does not have to worship someone to love him.
infact as you must have seen how muslims responded to the cartoons of the prophet Muhammad pbuh .the love is more real when you know a person is also human just ike you ,obviously very high in stature though as high as a human can go -which is Messenger of God and His servant.which is what both Muhammad pbuh and Jesus pbuh were.
obviously jesus was of miraculous birth to Mary the chaste that is what Quran tells us and he was born on the command of Allah.(Allah is the word jesus used for God because he spoke hebrew which is a sister language of arabic. english word god came much later and is still an ambiguous one-godfather ,tin god etc)

see brother in humanity - truth has its own force its everwhere so where do i take the clue to answer you.
ok lets start with the statement
The Bible teaches that Jesus repeatedly received/accepted worship (and taught that only God was allowed to receive worship) and yet Islam holds him as a prophet, therefore unworthy to receive worship.

Jesus repeatedly received /accepted worship.............and taught that only God was allowed to receive worship.
u see the inherent contra....

and taught that only God was allowed to receive worship ..................jesus repeatedly received/accepted worship.

....diction.

so brother this is only the beginning.

now see u hv a kid plus u r spreading the word as well.and as a believer u do believe that
paradise and heaven are realities.tomorrow ur son will start having doubts.you r doing well by cleari g ur own.

so first question mark can be put on the authenticity .
only a few days ago was there a new version of the bible ..not to say that there r n'number of churches with their own bibles.

if even there was one bible it wud be in english which wud againbe a translation.
if it as a translation what r the credentials of the translator.

anyways to cut it short who was ST paul and what right he had to decide what to include in the bible and what not.

that too 100 yrs after christ.
why the word trinity is not found in the bible.
this concept has come from outside.
how is it possible that over hundreds of years of corrupt kings crusades and popes -the bible cud hv remain unchanged.
if the natural question comes to u about quran there are still 7th century quran manuscripts in mueseum of turkey.

then again dead sea scrolls say something else than the current bible.

then agin a lot of stuff must have been lost in translation-
the meaning of the word father was as todays lord or caretaker
and son was bondman or servant or someone who is taken care of by someone.

that is why in various places many prophets and others hv been called as sons of god.

not the begotten son but that is what modern christianity stresses on.

the popes and fathers (again in the sense of caretaker not literal father)they say that they dont beget sons to remain pure yet they attribute a son to tHim who literaly is THE PURE

there r many things which will come out brother if u stick along till u come to some clarity

and decision.

but these three things you will agree
1) Almighty cannot have three parts\
2)Almighty is divine ,he cannot have a son
even if he had (NOT MY VIEW Allah be my witness)
A merciful God will never kill his son
even a just God will not kill an innocent man for other sinners.thats like rEAlly unJust.
if u r angry with crime in auckland will u kill ur son.
if even fallible guys like humans cant do it WILL A LOVING Almighty do that.

if someone believes that from his heart that jesus was the literal son of god than only confusion and utter chaos can come out of such a belief.

which is what happened in the west.

they prefered to believe in the fairytale of darwin than believe in the criminal tale of st paul.

this is not a small crime but i may ask what gretaer crime than this.

st paul added this concept to appeal to the gentiles or pagan greekand romans with their zeus and olympia and appollo and other gods.

the ploy worked christianity spread but truth died.

till Allah in His infinite Mercy sent another messenger by the name of Muhammad the last messenger to humanity.

the arabs were the meek(who was meeker) and under muhammad pbuh inherited the earth.
thus jesus promise came to pass.

now the time is for Muhammads promises and one of them is that jesus pbuh will come back and believers will unite behind him.he has even told how he looks.peace on all messegers of Allah.

many modern day christians will not even be able to recognize Jesus -by the way they hv grown up seeing images and statues(violation of the first commandment!)of a white anglo saxon jesus when actually he was a semite .

thus you see my friend..just as theory of remember theory of evolution was used to justify slavery and santa claus is used to justify commerce so was the son of god lie used to justify the lust for power and influence.

SAY !
HE IS ALLAH THE UNIQUE(one AND only)
ALLAH the eternal Absolute
He was neither born to any nor anyone was begot by him
and like Him there is none.

Hello my brother in humanity Micheal,

Welcome to TTI. I am glad that you came here to ask questions and learn something new.

But first I have a questions... What do you mean by:
I fellowship regularly in an African church in Auckland NZ.

Brother if you read both Bible and Quran you will find out that the difference between Bible and Quran is like earth and sky, like a stone and a mountain. Most of the Bible (both old and new testament) is written by men unfortunately, while the Quran has been revealed to Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and is still in its original and pure form.

I would love to discuss with you the differences and similarities between Christianity and Islam. In the mean time please watch this video:

http://thedeenshow.com/videos.php?action=featured&id=1213

This is regarding the experience of a Christian minster who converted to Islam. You will find answers of many of the questions which you might have.

Look, if Christianity is truth then I wouldn't hessitate for a second to join it because my salvation and the state of my eternal life will depend on it and I wouldn't want to burn in hellfire forever. Similarly I suppose you would want the same that if Islam is the truth then you should accept it too. Therefore the prerequisite would be to look at the religion with open mind.

Welcome again to TTI and May God bless you.
