As-Salam Alikum my Brothers & Sisters
I pray that you are all well.
We have all copyied a cd/dvd/islamic talk, nasheeds or even online books & pass them on.
But are we allowed to, a lot of them have copyright rights over them. It can be against the law of the land we live in & it can also take away money that people would of earned if it was sold correctly.
We may do it with the correct intention with in our hearts of passing on the message of Islam but is it halal to copy some one's else work & pass it on. With out there permission, some people do say "you are free to copy my work & spread it around for the good of the people".
On sites like youtube, there are series of documentrys or talks. I have downloaded them & put them together to make 1 movie, instead of having 5 or 6 small movies. Some are just a talk at a masjid & some are a proper video (with a lot of work in them)
Is this also allowed?
I really do like passing on good movies & talks about Islam & when I can I do buy them. There are sometimes that I can't find a copy or any one that is selling it.
Any advice, with proof would be appreciated.
