Tongues of Fire
The Messenger of Allah (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Whoever is two-faced in this world, will have a tongue of fire on the Day of Resurrection.” [Abu Dawud]
The most evil of people on the Day of Resurrection will be the one who is fickle, who is not consistent in his attitude, but presents one face to some people and another face to others.
The problem with us is that we as soon as we read ahadith such as these we immediately begin to look around us to see who this description fits. We don’t look at ourselves, and if we do try to look at ourselves a voice speaks from within, “Beautiful!”
We need to look carefully at ourselves and examine our behaviour so that we don’t end up with tongues of fire.
