ABUSE: THE SILENT KILLER

There is so much abuse in this country as well as in many other countries. On a daily basis, people are abused beyond the scope of pain. This abuse is done by all humans, not just by men and women. Now-a-days, children are abusing their parents and their grandparents. Their behavior is so much out of control, that adults fear for their lives if they cross their children.

Abuse is responsible for millions of deaths a year. It arises out or anger or malice. It escalates until physical damage is done or death. Abuse comes in many forms:

1. Mental/Emotional Abuse-this is when a person is attacked through their feelings. The abuser uses the emotions to gain control and then turns it against the abusee. This causes instability, introversion, very low self-esteem, depression and if not stopped in time, suicide.

2. Verbal Abuse-this is when the person is verbally attacked. Called all sorts of derogatory names, cursed at, humiliated in front of family and friends. Verbal abuse lingers even after the abuser is gone, it coincides with mental/emotional abuse. It also causes a person not to function in an ordinary manner. It can be almost hypnotic,
when constantly heard.

3. Physical abuse-this is the actual touching or putting of hands on the person. It is very brutal and demeaning. It ranges from broken bones, black eyes, busted ribs, smashed faces, broken eardrums, being trown down, stomped on, etc. In most cases this type of abuse leads to depression, rape, paralysis, and even death.
[Sexual Abuse-this is when anyone is abused in a sexual manner. It doesn't have to be a woman, it could be a child, a man, animals(Astaghfirullah). People who abuse this way are very sick and dangerous. They will not hesitate to kill anyone.]

But the most deadliest Abuse is SILENCE-silent abuse is when abuse is witnessed and the one seeing it remains silent. They don't want to help, or get involved. They stand back and watch or are afraid to come forth and tell somebody. So many people fall into this category. We should not be afraid to tell somebody, even if we have to tell in and anonymous manner.

Breaking the silence could not only save someone elses life, but it could save your own. How many times have we witnessed abuse of anykind and not stepped up to help? People take risks everyday, why not take one that could possibly save a life, or years of therapy?

Don't use the excuse that it is "none of my business". It is all of our business in one way or another. As long as there are phones, Dept's of Protective Services, abuse hotlines, no one should have to suffer one minute longer than they have to. Most people go through years of torment because they "couldn't tell". Just think of what the person abused had to go through.

So, if you witness abuse among family, friends, neighbors, children, or the elderly, PLEASE TELL SOMEONE!! Remember one day the life you help save just may be yours or someone you love.
