Using Hadhrat before names

:salam2:

I hope this post finds all of you in the best of health and iman in sha' Allah.
I have a question,
Today I used Hadhrat in front of name of a sahaba(radiallahu anhu) and I was told that it is not from the way of salaf and it is kind of bid'ah.
Here at my place we use term Hadhrat before an elder's name to give respect and honour. We even use it when addressing each other like,"Where are you going Hadhrat?"
Although I understand radiallahu anhu is enough, but my question is:
Is it an innovation to use Hadhrat in front of sahaba's(ridwanullahi ta'ala alyhim ajm'een)'s name or any salaf(alyhirrahamah)'s name?

Brother in Islam! It just means respect but it is used for all people who are respetcted, not only Prophets. However, this is common among non-arab muslims only. Arabs don't use such word. Mostly, India, Pakistan, bangladesh... but in parallel arabic cultures it could vary and used for respect even towards older people or more important people... It is no Biddah in using Hadrat before names... but if you are in doubt then remember the kind words of our Prophet (saww) if you are doubt then leave it!!!! and Allah (swt) knows Best!
