What Canada lacks most

Canadians enjoy the privilege of a modern society but with this comes lack of fulfillment that even money cannot buy. Although they work to the bone to fill the void in what they lack they seldom seem to find.

The void many modern day Canadians face is lack of structure, discipline, family unity, and community that abides by daily rituals and beliefs. In today’s society more families become two parent incomes to gain a higher standard of financial living. This style of living can result in a lack of family values being enforced in the home but with more pay with the catch that two parent income families continue to struggle to pay their bills while they risk losing their family altogether.

Practicing a religion with sincerity, not just as a ritual, gives a family structure, community, and discipline because family rules will reflect from the religion they practice. The more religious belief and practice in the home the more time a family will spend together in a calm soothing environment giving a sense of unity. Religion also teaches charity, piety, humility, togetherness where happiness and fulfillment with a dollar value cannot be found but instead the importance of the traditional family of one parent (usually Mother) staying in the home as their full time job and the family being their first and foremost concern living within their means.

I'm not sure at what point women began to believe being a stay at home Mom was a dead end job when it's a God given privilege to stay at home and raise a family, one of the highest privileges offered in society.

Our children reflect who we are in the end and can define our main purpose of passing on the most crucial of survival guides to them. When we don't pass this onto our children instead pass onto them lesser degrees of importance they become lost and have trouble finding coping skills when happiness turns to sorrow. This leads to high use of drugs and alcohol as their coping strategies to numb whatever the problems they are facing in that moment. Furthermore, in today’s society of internet access women can be educated from home preparing themselves for the workforce once their children grow and leave the home. Who ever said a woman in her 40's can't begin her career after her children have left or near to leaving the nest with their own life goals to attain? Women can even work from home while raising their children (providing does not interfere with the raising of the children), and in these unstable times of job security with heavy layoffs, faith and religion plays the biggest role in the most difficult of times on how to manage them as well as help from within the religious community.

They can take religion out of the community but they will never take community out of religion therefore practicing religion sincerely will make a person slow down and spend their time helping and less time hurrying and worrying.

Nicely written, i have to agree, i actually feel bad for my peers because it feels like they have no goal in their life, they live the same thing and go through almost the same thing everyday, drinking alcohol, changing relationships don't fulfill them, but sadly they never realize what they are missing is Allah (swt) in their life SubhanAllah.

Im not sure you noticed this, but im sad to see so many muslims busy in the rat race of making money and forgetting purpose in life

Walikum asalam warahmatullahi wabarakahu Brother, Insha'Allah the Spring weather will surface again soon. Thank you for reading and commenting. As a recent revert I have not noticed about Muslims if they are to busy with the worldly life, Insha'Allah they find their balance if they are and remember so many of the Hadiths that warns against and also teaches how to live within the Dunya, I can imagine it is difficult for us all to find and stay on that path.

"I have little to do with this world. My worldly life is no more than the halting of a traveler, taking rest under the shade of a tree for a moment and then moving on" [Ahmad/Tirmidhi/Ibn Majah]

Before I began studying Islam and then became Muslim I had strong faith in Allah Subana wa Ta'ala but I did not understand the meaning of accountability to my actions on a religious level instead only understood them on the society of Canada level and therefore, I believe, did not enforce enough righteousness in the upbringing of my children. I told them to mind the law but the way I was raised basically concerning the day of judgement and after life, the rest of our actions leave up to Jesus alayhi wasallam we do not need to worry.

Now I know how wrong this is and why society suffers from this line of belief, it is not the truth and with this line of thinking our society is only concerned with breaking the laws governed by the government not those set down without compromise by our Almighty Creator. Now with the internet and no laws or censorship placed on the internet and to many places of little moral value, this breaking of the laws set before us are so easily broken and drags us down with it unless we listen to the Islamic scholars and gain proper knowledge through Qur'an and Sunnah.

Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu alayhi wasallam was reported as saying to Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) ( I do not know which Hadith, please forgive me) "Knowledge is my shield" and since I have learned even only a little of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu alayhi wasallam life thus far as there is much to learn, at the beginning of my study reading this quote and feeling it's urgency I began to thirst for the right knowledge not the knowledge I believed was right, although much untangling in my thinking and bad habits of 'thinking I was right' had to occur.

"Follow the middle path. Taking up what is beyond your capacity will only bring shame upon you" [Tirmidhi]

Suban'Allah, becoming Muslim I feel I am now a wonderful role model to my children and although they are older teens and adult, now they see the difference. Insha'Allah they now are beginning to intensely appreciate why Islamic way is crucial to survival as they have seen the greatest change in me and what now is truly important in life.

"Simple living is a sure sign of true faith" [Abu Dawud/Muslim]

I pray daily they too will become Muslim and see and feel the Glorious Light Insha'Allah.

"Wealth does not consist of abundant provision and plenty of goods. A truly rich person is content, enjoying peace of mind" [Bukhari]

Insha'Allah. Thank you for the suggestions, yes I am close to Mississauga but not close enough to get to the classes, I am a bit over an hour away and I do not drive. Al Maghrib class is closest I looked up in Toronto and again difficult for me to get to. I do take an online class at Qibla.com, at the moment I'm enrolled in Essentials of Islam Hanafi, and I have just enrolled under Dr. Bilal Philips online Islamic university. I am enjoying Islamic studies more then any studies I've ever studied. Just leaves thirsting for more, we can never learn enough about Islam. I also enjoying listening to an online Islamic radio called RadioIzlam and has many wonderful scholars lectures and also an English tranlation of the Qur'an to listen to while I study, as I am still learning Arabic, is nice to hear someone read the Qur'an in English. I do play the Qur'an in Arabic and allow to play throughout day and over night at times, the Arabic language is so beautiful to listen. I also attend monthly lectures at the Masjid, there is one this Sunday Suban'Allah, I am looking forward. It is about our legal rights as Muslims. Thank you for your prayer and kind words also. May Allah Subana Wa Ta'ala reward you with the best of this world and the Hereafter for your kind comments of encouragement. Ameen JazakAllah Khairan
