What Happens After Death ?

Assalam aleykum to you all,

I have a question, and I hope you can help me out.

I'm wondering what will happen to a person when he/she dies and the angel of death will take his/her soul away. What will happen to the soul in the meanwhile, before the person is buried. I know then munkir and nakir will ask him/her in the graven and then the he/she will got to barzakh.

But what will happen to the soul before the person in burried and the two angels [munkir and nakir] will question that person?

wa'alaykum assalam..i understand that at that time the conscience/consciounce (however its spelt!!) is still there, so one will have the ability to hear and see, as well as feel pain (hence why doing an autopsy is haraam in Islam) however one will not have the ability to speak out or move. This is what i have been taught correct me if im wrong i havent read on this part much lately other than knowing the body does feel pain and know of its surroundings. The deceased should be buriedly quickly (within a few days) as the longer they arent, the more pain they will feel not being in their resting place. what else happens between death and the intercession im not too sure about sorry! im gona wait for others to answer this aswell inshaAllah wa'assalam...

I think the SOUL will be taken to the HEAVEN and if it's a BAD soul it will have bad smell and the angels will call the soul the worst of the names it was called in this world as for the GOOD soul it's will have a GOOD smell and will be CALLED the BEST name it was called in this world. I listened to a lecture about this. I found the first videos of this lecture but it's only on the souls journey of a BELIEVER!
