What should be my limit?

Salaam alaikum,
I m doin engineering. It being a profesional degree u need 2 interact a lot with your classmates. Coming to the point that the numbr of girls 2 dat of boys is very low, so what should be my stand regarding talking to them? sumtimes times i feels like talking to them wont harm but somehow i feel very much hesitant in doing so (perhaps i may fall in2 some sin). But lately it has affected adversly as wat evr information they hav regarding studies, dey dont bother to share dat with me! So wat shud i do?
