Dear Brothers & Sisters

One day Ibrahim Adham was passing through the bazaar in the city of Basra when he was surrounded by people who said to him: "O Ibrahim! Allah has stated in the miraculous Qur'an that: "Call Me and thou shall be answered"; we call upon Him bout our prayer is not answered.

Ibrahim said: "The reason is because your hearts have died due to ten things so that your supplications have no sincerity as your hearts are not pure and free of contamination."

They asked: "What are those ten issues?" He replied:

01:- First and foremost you have accepted Allah but have not repaid His claim.

02:- You have recited the miraculous Qur'an but have not practised it.

03:- You profess your love of the Prophet of Allah (S.A.W.), but are opposed to his Household (A.S.).

04:- You claim to have enmity with Satan but in practice you are in agreement with him.

05:- You say that you are fond of heaven but in order to enter heaven you have not done anything.

06:- You said that you were afraid of the Fire of Hell, but have thrown your bodies in to it.

07:- You were busy slandering and criticizing people but were ignorant of your own shortcomings and faults.

08:- You said that you didn't like the world but are greedily following it.

09:- You confess to the reality of death but don't prepare yourself for it.

10:- You have buried the dead but haven't taken a lesson or guidance from it.

These are the 10 practices (Ten Reasons) which cause prayers to remain
unanswered

Another reason why dua's may not be accepted....

It is sufficient to know that the mercy of Allah will be denied to the one who breaks the ties of kinship; moreover, it will be denied to the group wherein is a person who breaks the ties of kinship, as in the hadith reported by Bukhari in Al-Adab al-Mufrad
"Mercy will not descend upon a people among whom is one who breaks the ties of kinship."
Hence, the great Sahaabi Abu Hurayrah (RA) never liked to make supplication to Allah in a gahering in which a person who had broken the ties of kinship was present, because that would prevent mercy from descending and the dua from being answered.
This is very serious to keep in mind. If we want our dua's answered then not just tabligh but keeping the family ties.

"There is no worse sin for which Allah will hasten the punishment of one who commits it in this world - in addition to what awaits him in the Hereafter - than oppressing others and breaking the ties of kinship."

"Then, is it to be expected of you, if you were put in authority, that you will do mischief, in the land, and break your ties of kith and kin? Such are the men whom Allah has cursed for He has made them deaf and blinded their site." (Qur'an 47:22-23)

Worship Allah, and join not partners with Him;and do good -to parents, kinsfolk, orphans, those in need. Neighbors who are near, neighbors who are strangers, the companion by your side, the wayfarer:you meet... (Qur'an 4:36) I hope this information is helpful In sha Allah.:mashallah:

I read a hadith sometime ago about Du'a. It is said that on the Day of Judgement when your good book is put into your right hand INSHA'ALLAh, the true muslim will look at it and say "this is not my book!" ( or thereabouts) becasue it will be so thick and heavy insha'allah - and it will be full, in addition to all their good deeds, with reward for every unanswered du'a they made in this life. Because Allah swt loves to be asked, he loves it when people keep making du'a and never give up asking insha'allah - it is a high form of worship because when you make a du'a you turn to Allah swt and Allah swt alone - you show that you are dependent on him, you recognise him and that you know that everything comes from him and nothing will happen without his will and that all you are and have is from him. So when your du'a is not answerd but you keep on making du'a and dont give iup - you will recieve reward for this insha'allah.

Insha'allah I will find you the hadith - it was in a book I have called 'Du'a: The Weapon of the Believer' - its a fantastic book and I highly recommend it to all insha'allah.
