Sometimes, we are too harsh on others. We can’t tolerate their heedlessness and their sins. We resent such people and look down at them. This is normal and expected from people who struggle in this life to preserve their Iman and chastity. However, this is not the way Allah told us to feel about others. It is Allah’s favor upon us that we are guided to the straight path. This should make us more understanding to how others feel as we have been in their shoes before. Allah says about those we tend to look down upon: “Even as he is now, so were you yourselves before till Allah conferred on you His Favors, therefore, be cautious in discrimination.” That is why; always remember how you were when calling others to Islam! You were never perfect. So, don’t expect others to be perfect and call them with wisdom and compassion.
