woman and smoking?

sisters and brothers,

why is it in islam that men can smoke and woman can't? i ask this because we are all humans it will effect thier health whether it's a woman or a man. what are your islamic views on this and is there any proof on this subject.

in one word: its just *culture* sister

in Islam, men and women are equal when it comes to rewards and sins. eg. salah, fasting, equal punishment for stealing or sexual relations before/outside marriage.

its just the soceity which have created the mindset that if men sins, its okay but if women do the same she is immoral,etc. if a man drinks or smoke or have opposite gender frnds...he is not looked down upon as much as if a woman do this.

these things have no place in Islam.

Islam does never say that men can smoke and women cannot....
Basically. cigarette does harm the one is smoking, and the people who are around him

Simply, as brother ahmed_indian said, you think this way, 'coz the society is having a wrong picture on this issue.. and many of us do think that smoking is halal for men... But this is wrong my sister..

Smokeing is considerd haram, becouse we are damageing our health and allah in the quran told us not to cause harm to our own self from our own hands. before smoking was labelled as 'makrooh' but now due to advancement of technology and science we have more information that it actually damages our health wich was not known back then...so now its considered haram.

the smoke harms both men and women...and I also saw "muslim"women smoking.I saw one in a car smoking...the thing that really hurt me wasn't the smoke itself,but the fact that at the mirror of her car there was hanged the "Kalikamatu llah".it was very harmful for me
