Working in food shops

I heard that working in food shops, such as Sainsburys, Tesco (UK shops) is not permissible in Islam, as you may handle haram food products such as beef, pork, alcohol etc. But is this really haram?

I know it sounds wierd but some feedback would be great. :blackhijab:

Sister, BEEF is HALAL ...

yesh its not allowed in islam to serve HARAM food to other people, We can not even serve HARAM food to non muslims

Sister, the income one might get is mixed with money that is earned through Haram means. Even if the whole world is against you, and Allah is with you, then everything is with you!
So a muslim who abandons such a job, even after that he has to roam around the street as a begger he would be richer in his spirit as Allah is pleased with him. And if he leaves such a shop for Allah's sake, surely Allah would find something better for him.

i am convinced with alcohol but need some reference as to whether serving non slaughtered food in haram in Islam.

is it really so easy and practical to leve job and start begging? are there no social and psychological pressures?

i have heard scholars say in these situations that:

1. start searching for another job *seriously*.
2. if you cant fulfill *basic needs* of urself and ur family, u can work there until u find halal job.
3. and keep seeking Allah's help and forgiveness.
