Worsening health problem

I woke up today with a lot of phlegm congested in my chest and throat. I have begun to have difficulty breathing, my mom told me not to worry about it and continue to spit the phlegm out but I fear that this may be the onset of asthma. I can barely sleep because it's hard to breath while laying down, and when I'm not laying down deep breaths make a uncomfortable feeling and an unusual noise. I also have a very heavy cough that followed cold-like illness. I'm afraid this will turn into something much worse, does anyone have any advice for me?

It's too bad to hear that, brother. Well, i'm asthmatic myself & whenever i had these asthmas, the dr always advised me to drink as many hot drinks as possible. He also would recommend honey with lemon juice added, to be taken first thing in the morning. At the same time, if the phlegm is getting yellowish or even darker, then you have to take an anti-biotic, If u'r taking one & it;s not working, then you should see the doctor so he can give u a stronger & more appropriate anti-biotic. Take care & wish u a speedy recovery.

:salam2: brother, sorry to hear that you are under the weather, may you recover soon, Insha Allah. I would suggest that you go to the doctor to see if you need an x-ray of lungs and bronchi. It doen't sound like asthma to me but you need your chest checked for bronchitis and other chest infections. With the right medication, this should go away in no time but see the doctor, please. :wasalam:

You were right, I have bronchitis. He gave me anti-biotics for a week. Once he said "puffer" I was scared that I had asthma, but hum'del el elah, it's only temporory to open up my lungs so the drugs can work more efficiently. Ty sister Hassana the honey and lemon juice helped a ton with my coughing.

Salam.

:salam2: brother, so it is bronchitis. I am happy you went to see the doctor and got some antibiotics. Be sure to finish the course of antibiotics and if you see no improvement within three days, please see the doctor again. Hopefully that will not be necessary and when you are better, Insha Allah, ask the doctor what precautions you can take so this may not happen again. We will remember our brother in our duaa..
