Dear sisters and brothers, have you payed you Zakat?

Think and ponder about it.........................

Nowdays, people are ignoring Zakat when it was sent as an obligation to them!
Think that you really don't understand the correct amount to pay?
Scroll down to learn the correct way of paying the Zakat

The importance of Zakat

Allah(swt) has said in the Quran:
وَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُواْ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ وَأَقۡرِضُواْ ٱللَّهَ قَرۡضًا حَسَنً۬ا*!ۚ
((So recite of it that which is easy (for you), and establish worship and pay the poor-due, and (so) lend unto Allah a goodly loan.))
In the numerous times Allah(swt) has commanded us to pay Zakah in the Quran and mentioned next to Salah and people today are ignoring that!

Who has the right to get Zakat

Allah says in the Quran:
((The alms are only for the poor and the needy, and those who collect them, and those whose hearts are to be reconciled, and to free the captives and the debtors, and for the cause of Allah, and (for) the wayfarer; a duty imposed by Allah. Allah is Knowing, Wise.))
Allah(swt) describes 8 catergories of people in this Ayah and they are:
1.The poor (Fuqara)-this refers to someone who has no income
2.The needy (Masakin)-this is someone who for instance, may have a job, a house and a car, but their income is below the minimum requirement.
3.Employees of the Zakah. This category is sub-divided into the following:

a. the group of people who are social services workers who go into the community to evaluate who is Faqeer and Miskeen.
b. those who collect the Zakah money
c. the accountant of the Zakah money
d. investors who increase the share of the Zakah
e. the clerical worker or secretary who puts the files in order
f. those who will deliver Zakah to the ones who need it
g. the outside auditor.
4.Sympathizers
These are those people who might enter or who have already entered Islam. Anyone we feel are good friends or ours (non-Muslim or new Muslims) we give them a gift from the Zakah money.
5.To free slaves
Riqab is the term used to describe the group of people who are slaves. The Zakah money is used to free the slaves.
6.Gharimeen
Zakah money is used to pay off debts but these people are not living in luxury, they are living a normal life. For example, someone who has gone bankrupt because of job loss and is overloaded with debt.
7.In the Cause of Allah(swt)
This can be anything for the love of Allah. e.x. Supporting a mousque
8.Ibn as Sabeel

This refers to a traveler, for instance who has lost his wallet and has to get back to his home.

The amount of Zakat to pay

The Quran doesn't specify any exact amount to be payed and today people say you must pay 2.5% of your wealth. It just says in the Quran pay what you can.

Zakat and Ramadan

As Ramadan draws near, we just can't stop talking about and prepare for it. But during your thoughts do you give a thought to Zakat. One of the fundamentals of Ramadan is to transform the believer into a better person and one of your goals should be to not only pay zakat but to give iftaar to a needy person is sadaqah. Zakat ul Fitr is a charity which should be payed before Salat ul Eid on Eid ul Fitr. You shouldn't do this in Ramadan only but ifor the rest of the year also.

Zakat:the fallen pillar

Today people are ignoring Zakat when the shade of the believer is his charity on the Day of Judgment! Why do the people especially the muslims ignore this! As if the Ummah do not care for the people in crisis and worry about only themselves! Brothers and Sisters, we NEED to make a change. Start with yourselves and give charity and contribute to you shades on the Day of Judgment! Then spread the word and warn the Ummah!

Can zakat be given to a needy person in the form of a physical gift of some sort, rather than cash money?

For instance, if a fellow Muslim has a broken furnace in their home and they will shortly need to have a furnace due to winter coming, can a person anonymously arrange and pay for them to get the furnace repaired? In this case, I say this because the person is in need of other things and if given the money, they may think to spend on other things (needed things, I am not talking about saying they would waste it) and continue being cold in the winter, which is not healthy for them or their children.
