Assalamu alaikom warahmatullahi wabarakatuh,
I'm fairly new to this forum, Alhamdulilaah, and hope that I won't be considered as an outsider to many of you, in sha Allaah. I came here to find an answer regarding zakat, and am still learning about Islam.
Here's my background: I live in United States under my nonmuslim parents' roof. I'm still a full-time student with no job. Every semester, the school gives me financial aid. I still have money from last year which is $700. And earlier in August this year, I received $1000. I also have some savings which is from last year, and it's for paying the bill monthly on health-related, which is now $2700. I also have gold bracelets that I never take off from my wrist. When my mother bought it, it was $500. In the today's market, it's now over $1000, according to her.
Full 12 years savings: $700
Full 12 years savings for monthly health bill: $2700
Non-12-Full this year's savings: $1000
Gold: $500 (when bought) -- $1000 (today's market)
Could you please tell me if I have to pay zakat in this case? I am very confused on which section is to be used in this website:
e-nisab.com/currencies?date_range=latest
I actually do not know which one out of three categories in that website to pay for zakat: gold, silver (majority), or hanafi.
Please let know soon, as the due to pay zakat ul maal is near, in sha Allaah. Jazakallahkheir !
