I have read a number of fatwas stating if you want something, then you should recite durood (allahuma salai ala sayidina mohammad) 500 times evey day and supplicate Allah and inshala your 'wish' will come true. Is that true?

may Allah sw answer your prayers and questions, ameen:tti_sister:

sking about an alternative to books of innovated du’aa’s and looking for names of books of correct du’aa’s

Question:

Salaams. Thank you again for the wonderful work you are doing to help the Muslim Ummah. May Allah (SWT) bestow His blessings on you.
My question is of differentiating between what is Zikhr & waht is Bidha. My daily drive to work take me approx. 2hrs and to make good use of this time I Listen to the Quran (Arabic with English Translation) on the way to work and on the way home, I try to say some duas I learnt from a books that were given to me. These book published in India/Pakistan suggest that I should recite a particular dua for 100 times and another dua for 500 times etc.... All the duas in these books have the number of times I should recite them. I have researched many authentic hadiths and cannot find this reciting by certain amount. As a result am I committing Bidha if I recite these duas by the amounts suggested in these books. If so, is there any authentic books you could recommend where I can learne and recite daily duas for Zikhr purposes.
Jazak Allah Khair.

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

Some saheeh reports from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) describe du’aa’s that can be recited one hundred times during the day and night, such as that reported by Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “Whoever says ‘Laa ilaaha ill-Allaah wahdahu laa shareeka lah, lahu’l-mulk wa lahu’l-hamd wa huwa ‘ala kulli shay’in Qadeer (There is no god but Allaah Alone, with no partner or associate; His is the Dominion and His is the Praise, and He is Able to do all things), one hundred times in a day, it will be equivalent (in reward) to freeing ten slaves, and a hundred hasanaat (good deeds) will be recorded for him, and one hundred sayi’aat (bad deeds) will be erased from his record; it will be a protection for him from the Shaytaan all that day until evening comes, and nobody can do any better than that except one who does more than that.” (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 3050).

Abu Hurayrah (may Allaah be pleased with him) also reported that the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Whoever says ‘Subhaan Allaah wa bi hamdih (Glory and praise be to Allaah)’ one hundred times in a day, his sins will be wiped out even if they are like the foam of the sea.’” (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 5936).

With regard to trustworthy and reliable books of du’aa’s and dhikr, this is a topic which has been covered in many books, ancient and modern, whether the books deal with this topic on its own or it is included with other material. Some examples are:

1. ‘Amal al-Yawm wa al-Laylah by al-Nisaa'i, edited by Faarooq Hamaadah

2. al-Adhkaar by Imaam al-Nawawi, edited by ‘Abd al-Qaadir al-Arna’oot

3. al-Saheeh al-Musnad min Adhkaar al-Yawm wa’l-Laylah, published by Daar Ibn ‘Affaan, al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia

4. Saheeh al-Kalim al-Tayyib by al-Albaani, al-Maktab al-Islami, Beirut, Lebanon

5. Husn al-Muslim by al-Qahtaani, published by Mu’sasat al-Juraysi, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

[Translater’s Note: this book is available in English under the title: Fortification of the Muslim through Remembrance and Supplication from the Qur’aan and the Sunnah, by Sa’eed ibn ‘Ali ibn Wahf al-Qahtaani]

This is unfortunately common amongst the deviated sufis. I was not able to find an authentic hadeeth about that. If you search the web, you will notice it is only mentioned on sufi sites.

Specifying a number of times to recite dhikr or du’aa’ that is not narrated in sharee’ah

Question:

What are the basis of using such du'a as Ya lADIFU 29 TIMES Ya Qahharu 306 times, Hasbunallahu wa ni'imal wakeel 450 times e.t.c,how right or how wrong is it to use them because i didn't find any verse of the Qur'an or Hadith that supports their use.

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

There is no sound (saheeh) basis for reciting these adhkaar the number of times mentioned in the question. These numbers are usually stated by some of the innovators, most of whom are Sufis, who describe adhkaar and the number of times they are to be repeated, making that up themselves; they say whoever recites such and such will get such and such benefits and protection, and whoever recites such and such a wird will get such and such a reward.

Of course, these are matters which can only be known through wahy (revelation). So the basic principle in this case is that dhikr and du’aa’s are of two types:

1 – Adhkaar which were narrated in the Qur’aan and Sunnah, to be recited at a certain time, in a certain place or in certain circumstances. This type should be recited as prescribed, at the appropriate time, or in the appropriate circumstances or place, with the correct words or posture, without adding anything or taking anything away.

2 – All dhikr or du’aa’ in general that is not connected to certain times or places. These fall into two categories:

(i) Those which were narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), so they should be recited in the wording that he used. They should not be connected to any particular time or place, and they should not be connected to a specific number of times to be recited.

(ii) Those which were not narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), rather the person makes them up himself, or they were narrated from the salaf. It is permissible to say such words so long as five conditions are met:

1- He should choose the best and clearest words, for he is conversing with his Lord and God.

2- The words should be of an appropriate style.

3- The du’aa’ should be free of anything that is forbidden in Islam, e.g. it should involve any element of seeking help from anything other than Allaah, and so on.

4- It should be of the general kind of dhikr and du’aa’, not connected to a particular time, place or circumstances.

5- It should not be taken as a regular practice.

Adapted from Tasheeh al-Du’aa’ by Shaykh Bakr Abu Zayd (p. 42)

Based on the above, the words mentioned in the question are phrases that are narrated in the Qur’aan and Sunnah, but saying that they must be repeated this number of times is an innovated matter which should not be followed. Rather we should mention them during our du’aa’s and address Allaah by all His beautiful names, without singling out some names or stating that they should be recited a certain number of times or at certain times, making that up ourselves. We should adhere to what was narrated in sharee’ah concerning certain times, places or situations connected to a particular du’aa’; if no such details were narrated in sharee’ah then we should not make them up ourselves because that is encroaching upon the rights of Prophethood.

And Allaah knows best.

Guidelines on shar’i wird

Question:

Is reading some sorts of daroods like darood-taj and darood_lakhi and darood_tunajaiyna etc bidaa`t.

Answer:

Praise be to Allaah.

We know nothing about what is in these wirds (daroods), but we can tell you some guidelines that you can follow in order to know what is prescribed in Islam and what is bid’ah:

1 – The best wirds are those whose words were narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), because Allaah did not choose for him anything but the most perfect and the best, and he did not choose anything but that for his ummah.

2 – It is permissible for a person to send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in words that were not narrated (in sharee’ah), so long as they do not include anything that is forbidden, such as exaggerating about him, or praying to Allaah by virtue of the Prophet, or calling upon him instead of Allaah.

3 – The one who is remembering Allaah (reciting dhikr) should not specify any particular time, number or manner of reciting dhikr unless that is proven with saheeh evidence, because Allaah cannot be worshipped except in the manner that He has prescribed in His Book or on the lips of His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Worship must be that which is prescribed in sharee’ah, with regard to the act itself, the manner in which it is done, the time when it is done and how many times it is done. Whoever adopts a wird whose wording was not narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), or specifies a particular number of times or does it at a specific time, is committing bid’ah.

The scholars called this bid’ah al-bid’ah al-idaafiyyah (additional innovation??), because the action itself is prescribed in sharee’ah, but some innovation has been added to it with regard to the manner, the number of times or when it is to be done.

You should note that all goodness rests in following that which has been narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). Whoever studies those who recite made-up wirds will find that usually they are falling short when it comes to doing that which was narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) such as the dhikrs for morning and evening, etc. This confirms what was narrated from one of the salaf, who said that no person ever introduces an innovation but he gives up an equivalent Sunnah.

And Allaah knows best.

Repent to Allah

Salamu alaikoem warahmatullahi wbarakatuh,

Subhanallah my brother. The one who asks your name and the name of your mother is a Sahir, so i think she will do sihr to this girl and her parents. You are responsible for this. This is very dangers. You have to repent to Allah for doing this.

Every person who asks your name and the name of your mother is a Sahir...Please brothers and sisters keep this in mind

She will look into a book--> she will send jins

You made a big mistake and have to repent to Allah before you die. Wallahi you have made a big big big mistake.

you have to start with learning the tawheed and islam my brother.

If i was the father i would do everything to keep you away from my daughter until you repent and gain knowledge of islam

Islaam is very simple! How ? It asks us to beleive in Oneness of Allaah and to accept that Muhammad sallallaahu alaihi wasallam as His messenger and his slave.

It simply indicate that we should execute the orders of Allaah (described in Qur'an) and follow the teachings of the Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wasallam (described in authenticated Ahadhith). Beyond these two there is none.

Just activate your thoughts! Ayesha radhiyallaahu anhaa said that they did not cook for two whole months as there was nothing to cook and the companions radhiyallaahu anhum asked about what they ate. She told that they ate one or two dates and drank water and sometimes they received some milk and a little meat as a gift from the neighbours.

Think, why Rasoolullaahi sallallaahu alaihi wasallam did not tell his wives and his famili members and his companions who slept outside the mosque to recite these type of Dhikrs.

There is NO place for JAHILIYYA - ignorance - in Islaam.

These are the work of those who are deviated from pure Islaam; they are keeping names in Arabic to the tune of Islaamic names and having titles after or before their names such as ALLAAMA, SHAIKHUL HADEES, SHAIKHUL AKBAR SHAIKHUL QUR'AN WAL HADHIS and so on so on. They are indeed SHAYTHAN.

Wassalaam
