APPRECIATION OF SCIENCE IN THE QURAN

The acronym ASIQ is from the Appreciation of Science in the Quran. In the The Arabic word ASIQ means "in constant love for" . The word PASAK means a peg or to strengthened". The combination of the word asiq-pasak means in the constant love to strengthened. What is to be strengthened here is the belief toward Islam. The Quran is the guidance book for the whole human being, not just for the Muslim. The Quran addresses the believers (Muslims) as well as the non-Believers (non-Muslim). When the Quranic verses address the Muslim, it started with the call "O you who believe" and when it address the Muslim as well as non Believers it start with "O mankind".
Since The Quran addresses both the believers as well as the non Believers (of Islam), anybody who reads the Quran will feel that The God (al-Ilah, Allah) is talking to him/her. Urging him/her to investigate the universe and think and ponder who created the universe. There are more than 750 verses of the Quran out of its 6236 verses encourage the people to investigate the universe

When Was The Quran Revealed ?

The Quran was revealed gradually within the span of 23 years from the year 610 AD when The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was 40 years old. The chapters (surah) of the Quran were revealed gradually with the first chapter revealed was The Clot (al-Alaq)m followed by the surah al-Mudathir. Quran has been under strong criticsm from the Orientalists since the Middle age and of the popular view on the weakness of the Quran is the arrangement of the chapters (surah) of the Quran. The orientalists claimed that "the Quran should be chronologically arranged. The present arrangement which dated from the time of the Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. was willfully made by the scribes of the Quran and contain alot of irregularities and mistakes" This claimed has influenced certain quarters of the Muslim communities, some of whom believe that the original Quran was burned by the third Khalifah (Othman Ibn Affan) and the present Quran is not the original one. Many people who are skeptic on the truth of the Quran cannot be blamed because they do not see the proof that Quran is from the God (al-Illah, Allah). Even the born Muslim who are also skeptic to their own religion cannot be blamed because they have not seen the proof. Even the prophets had their difficulties in convincing the people on the truth of their messages, until the proof in the form of miracles (mu'jizat) were shown to them. That is the reason why there is no compulsion in religion. They have to make their own mind once they witness the proof. The Quran is indeed the greatest miracle given to the prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him)

This is the Quranic verse (2:254) which means

2:256 Let there be no compulsion in religion: Truth stands out clear from Error: whoever rejects evil and believes in Allah hath grasped the most trustworthy hand-hold, that never breaks. And Allah heareth and knoweth all things.

Once they witness the proofs, they will believe and become convinced that indeed the Quran is from The God (al-Ilah,Allah) the Creator of the universe. I will show the proofs and please continue reading! To read more of blogs, please go to my list of blogs and click your choice. The proofs presented here are proofs that the Quran is true.
The God (al-Ilah, alLah) promises to show the proofs that indeed The Quran is true. In Chapter Fusilat Verse 53, Allah says:

41:53 Soon will We show them our Signs in the (furthest) regions (of the earth), and in their own souls, until it becomes manifest to them that this is the Truth. Is it not enough that thy Lord doth witness all things?

Types of Proofs

The types of proofs here are:

1. The Amazing nature of the arrangement of the chapters of the Quran, the interlocking nature of the verses of the Quran and the lexical concordance of the words

2. The intimate relation between the Quran and Science. Science is the knowledge about the universe or part oaf the universe. In the Islamic tradition, the universe is the Book of Allah Observed while the Quran is the Book af Allah read. Since Allah is the creator of the universe, so whatever He says about the universe is nothing but truth and the truth can be ascertained through research and investigation.

BUT science can not claim absolute truth; and science, in its innate nature, have a naturalistic and agnostic weltanschauung. Therefore, science can not be incorporated to spirituality and even more with a particular religion/creed.

Assalaam walaikum,

Science is an approximation of life. It is not absolute to it points to the Absolulte.
