Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Divisions among mankind

Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds and may peace and blessings of Allaah be upon His Apostle Muhammad and his family and righteous followers of Islaam.

The Almighty Allaah created the mankind from a single couple, Adam and Eve (Peace and blessings be upon them). Thus, they are the parents of the whole mankind spread throughout the Earth. Their God is only ONE. The straight path given by the God is ONE. The Prophets sent by the God in one voice preached the same principal.

However, among the mankind there are several religions came into existing due to adamant behavior and personal interests of some deviated ancestors. In each religion there are many sects, divisions, differences and schools of thought.

What are the fundamental reasons for these divisions?

The God (Allaah) warned clearly when He sent Adam (Peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) to this world.

We said: “Get down all of you from this place (the Paradise), and then whenever there comes to you Guidance from Me, and whoever follows My Guidance, there shall be no fear on them, nor shall they grieve. But those who disbelieve and belie Our Ayat (Proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc) such are the dwellers of the Fire, they shall abide therein forever. (Al-Qur’an 2: 38-39)

Allaah created and declared that Adam (Peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is better than Angels. He instructed him to obey His commands and not to act according to his opinions - desires. He warned him, suppose he disobeyed His orders the destination will be the Hell from where he would have no coming back. If that is the status of him being a Prophet of Allaah with whom he has direct contact what we can tell about ourselves!

Surely, no man can infuse personal opinions into Allaah’s straight path, the path He has shown to the mankind. It is a major mistake without doubt. No one is doing anything wantonly against the God who created him. The one who worships the stone believes that the God is pleased with his worship. The reason for this is the enemy of the Mankind, the IBLEES – (Shaithan) vowed to misguide the man. Therefore, he chooses the ways and means looking like good deeds. The man deviated from knowledge is an easy prey for him. Sin is shown as good deed. This is clearly indicated in the Qur’an. Allaah says:

Say (O Muhammad): Shall We tell you the greatest losers in respect of (their) deeds? Those whose efforts have been wasted in this life while they thought that they were acquiring good by their deeds! (Al-Qur'an 18:103-104)

How the Shaithan creates this situation?

The shaithan knows very well that the Man would not go against Allaah Who created him. Therefore, he lets him to believe that he follows the Guidance of Allaah and whispers innovations into them that are being argued as good deeds.

They argue that following the straight path means following the path of righteous ancestors. They emphasize therefore for the present generation to look into the Qur’an and the Hadith. Our ancestors can not be wrong and false. They are the ones who kept Islaam alive. They are sinless. They are saints. That is how the shaithan brainwashes the ignorant.

The reader reading this would normally think what is wrong in this. But, when thinking deeply it will be obvious that there are differences between following the path given by Allaah and following the path of our ancestors who are indeed scholars too.

Knowing the right path directly there will be less chance that you would make mistakes. But, the acts followed by ancestors cannot be hundred percent correct. No one can guarantee on this. They too would have done some deeds contrary to Allaah’s command. Therefore, blind following of the good servants of Allaah will surely lead us to a situation that we do our actions contrary to Islaamic teachings without knowing that the actions are not approved by Allaah.

It is very important to note that the one who researches everything according to Allaah’s commands and His Prophet’s (Peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stands a chance of getting pardoned from Allaah as he tries his best to find the right path.

Without knowing the right path given by Allaah, the ones who follow the pious and God-fearing ancestors (May Allaah’s mercy be upon them) do three mistakes.

First: They do not try to know the straight path according to the above verse 2 : 38.

Second: They deny the following verse in the Holy Qur’an, by following Auliyas, the action is a major Shirk:

اتَّبِعُوا مَا أُنْـزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ مِنْ رَبِّكُمْ وَلا تَتَّبِعُوا مِنْ دُونِهِ أَوْلِيَاءَ قَلِيلا مَا تَذَكَّرُونَ

[Say (O Muhammad) to those idolaters (pagan Arabs) of your folk:] Follow what has been sent down unto you from your Lord (the Qur’an and Prophet Muhammad’s sunnah), and follow not any Auliya (protectors and helpers, etc. who order you to associate partners in worship with Allaah), besides Him (Allaah). Little do you remember! (Al-Qur’an 7:3)

Third: Due to each and every group follow the ancestors there are so many different groups coming into existence among the mankind.
Therefore, they cannot escape from punishment of Allaah for dividing the mankind into sects.

There evidences in the Qur’an that the offspring of Adam (Peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) deviated from the straight path due to the blind following of their ancestors. For example:

And when it is said to them, Follow what Allah has revealed, they say: Nay! We follow what we found our fathers upon. What! And though their fathers had no sense at all, nor did they follow the right way. (Al-Qur’an 2:170)

Shaithan infuses following the ancestors in order to misguide the mankind from the straight path given by the Almighty. By this he gets two opportunities to misguide them from the straight path.

1. The wrong and mistaken actions preached and done by the scholars of yesteryear, as human beings, are given a religious identity.

2. In order to make those actions strong, false stories (fictions) are made. Believing those false stories the mankind follows each and every so called scholar blindly. The scholars, the ancestors are given a divine status. They refuse to accept human errors in so called scholars and ancestors.

Somehow the Shaithan misguides the man in the name of the ancestors who were pious and righteous.

Surely, those who deviated from the right path shown by the Almighty will be punished in the Hereafter. At the time of punishment, feeling the grip of fire they will grumble and weep. Allaah states the status of them in Hell:

On the day when their faces shall be turned back into the fire, they shall say: O would that we had obeyed Allah and obeyed the Apostle! ًAnd they shall say: O our Lord! Surely we obeyed our leaders and our great men, so they led us astray from the path; O our Lord! Give them a double punishment and curse them with a great curse. (Al-Qur’an 33:66-68)

This grumble and weep will not help them. If the man wants to escape from the Hell he should realize not to follow blindly the ancestors of him. He should keep him away from the deviated path and follow the Qur’an and the authenticated Ahadith.

May Allaah the Almighty protect all of us from the whispers of Shaithan and guide us on the righteous path shown by the Prophet Muhammad (Peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) on the command of Allaah, the Most Gracious and the Most Merciful.

Wa aakhir da’awaana anilhamdulillaahi rabbil aalameen.
Wassalaam
