Grave Worship

What is it with grave worship that people like?A few days ago there was this "urs"(people with indian and pakistani background know pretty well about what it is) or anniverseray of a sufi in Rawalpindin, Pakistan. BBC reported that thousands of pilgrims swarmed to the so called holy shrine to pay their homage to the sufi. As BBC narrated, people come here to pay their respects but towards the middle of the video the real reason of coming to the shrine became clear. People believed that the sufi had the power to 'give' because he was close to Allah.

Now there are a few things which need our attention.

1: How do you know that someone is close to Allah?
2: How do you explain your belief that the person that is already dead can hear you and give you what you desire?
3: Did he instruct his following to commit such actions after his death?

I'd say that people transgress the limits placed by Allah when they commit actions like this. Is it not grave worship? Raising your hands in dua towards the grave of a dead person and asking him to give you your wishes. People who come there maintain that their wishes are granted. They rub the oil from the lamps burning on that shrine on their heads and bodies considering it holy. Hello? don't christians have a similar tradition? These people are committing shirk and calling themselves muslims. They are totally oblivious of what awaits them in the hereafter. Allah will forgive all the sins expcept shirk.
