In Islam, Jesus (pbuh) is considered a great Prophet of God, and is greatly respected. Over one billion Muslims around the world love and respect Jesus (pbuh) as an important prophet of God. Most Christians however, view Jesus (pbuh) as part of a triune God and also the begotten son of God. To get to the bottom of this, who better to ask then those that lived in the time of Jesus (pbuh)?

How was Jesus viewed in his lifetime?

Matthew 14:5 "And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet. "

Matthew 21:11 "And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee. "

Matthew 21:46 "But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet."

Luke 24:19 "And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people"

John 4:9 "The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet."

John 6:14 "Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world. "

John 7:40 "Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet. "

How did Jesus (pbuh) describe himself?

Matthew 13:57 "And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. "

Luke 13:33 "Nevertheless I must walk to day, and to morrow, and the day following: for it cannot be that a prophet perish out of Jerusalem. "

No God but Allah
Jesus is innocent of their allegations

Jazaki Allah khairan dear sister, Cathrine for your interesting thread.:)

I read that until about 300 years after Jesus peace be upon him left the Earth and was raised by Allah to the heavens, it was known by all his followers that Jesus is a prophet. He was regarded as a human prophet sent by Allah to guide and call for monotheism, the same call that all prophets from Adam to Muhammad peace be upon them all called for.

After about three hundred years of Jesus departure, the false allegations about him, his nature and the idea of triune began to emerge. The Roman leader of Jerusalem killed all those who hold on their faith of Jesus as a prophet calling for Monotheism and spared those who attributed divinity to him!!
