Death due to open head injury: doctor

RAWALPINDI (APP)- The open head injury with the depressed fracture leading to cardio-pulmonary arrest was the cause of former Prime Minister Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto’s death, said Dr Masadaq Hussain, Chief Executive of Allied Hospitals in Rawalpindi.
He stated in a press conference at Rawalpindi General Hospital, here on Friday. RGH Medical Superintendent Dr Habib Ahmed Khan and Additional Superintendent Dr Fayyaz Ahmed Khan were also present on the occasion.
He remarked that when Benazir was brought at the hospital she was not showing any sign of life. She was admitted in the hospital at 5.35pm. Surgeons Aurangzeb Malik, Dr Saeeda, Prof Azam Yousaf, Arif Malik and alQudsia conducted resuscitation and started giving her fluid and kept on her artificial ventilation.
When they found that her heart was not responding, they immediately shifted her to the operation theatre and continued the resuscitation. When they noticed that resuscitation was not successful they opened her chest and pressed BB’s heart with hands. He further said that during the whole process they did not feel her heart beat therefore at 6.16pm they declared her dead.
He said that something hit on her right temporal region that fractured her skull and thrust into her brain and the brain matter was exuding. The wound was oval shape and 4x5cm wide and 0.5 inch deep.
Dr Masadiq said, “I believe that some heavy object had hit her because they did not find any bullet or shrapnel.” He also said there was no wound on her neck and body. He said that the same report they had submitted to the Punjab government.
Meanwhile, the doctors who tried to save the life of late PPP Chairperson Benazir Bhutto said on Friday that no bullet wounds were seen on her body and her death was due to some object which hit her with force on right side of the skull.
Dr Mussadiq Khan, Surgical Specialist Principal Allied Teaching Rawalpindi General Hospital, addressing a press conference here said that when Benazir Bhutto was brought to emergency unit, her eyelids were fixed with heart beats and pulse not recordable. He said all these conditions showed that there were some severe injuries which had stopped supply of blood to the head.
He said they immediately started their efforts to save her life. They started resuscitation process so that her heart could resume functioning, he added. He said the open cardiac massage process was the most advanced method of resuscitation. He said when Benazir Bhutto was brought to hospital she was showing no signs of life.
He said that the 4.5cm oval shaped injury over the right ear with depressed fracture of 16mm at one place, were irregular edges. “If there were any bullet injuries, it would have little opening and wide exit, but the cardiac arrest was due to brain injury,” he added. Giving further details he said resuscitation efforts started at 5:35pm when she was brought in and on 6:16 p.m. she was declared dead. Dr Mussadiq said that they endeavoured their best to save her life with all possible medical aid including artificial ventilation process. He said due to severe injury, her brain tissues were visible which may be the impact of some heavy object. Dr Mussadiq said X-ray showed no sign of bullet injury. He said the team which treated her included MS Dr Habib, Dr Azam Yousuf, Dr Aurangzeb Malik, Dr Saeeda, Dr Nadeem and Neuro-surgeon Arif Malik.

she died as a result of the bombing. It wasn't al-qaeda but rather al-cia duh.
Whether or not it is or was willed by Allah. Only Allah knows that. We don't know.
