In one year the entire world produces about 1 cubic mile of oil (2006 data). It would take 50 years of energy production by each alternative energy source below to accumulate the equivalent energy in 1 cubic mile of oil that the world uses now in one year.

Assumptions: The Three Gorges Dam is rated at its full design capacity of 18 gigawatts. A nuclear power plant is postulated to be the equivalent of a 1.1-GW unit at the Diablo Canyon plant in California. A coal plant is one rated at 500 megawatts. A wind turbine is one with a 100‑meter blade span, and rated at 1.65 MW. A solar panel is a 2.1 kilowatt system made for home roofs. In comparing categories, bear in mind that the average amount of time that power is produced varies among them, so that total energy obtained is not a simple function of power rating.

That's indeed interesting. How about this.

Did you know that if you condense all the matter that make up all of the people living today, it would be the size of a sugar cube?

Most people don't realize that we are mostly composed of empty space... Think! atoms- nucleus, protons, electrons

i find that hard to accept as well.
what do you mean by "all the matter"

what we know for sure is that time and space began from a singularity - infinitely high density and temperature.

theoretically speaking infinitely high density indicates either
1. an infinitely small volume.
2. an infinitely large mass.

In relation to high density and temperature....


Did you know that stars "twinkle" because of the Earth's atmosphere? Our turbulent atmosphere churns the light from the star and refracts it in different directions :)
