Remedy for Sadness & Sorrow#2

When the land, sky and anything else in the entire universe remembers Allah through their zikr and tasbih, they have no expectations from anyone besides Allah and their intention is to please none but Him. This is because their worship is done with sincerity. At the same time, they are also aware of the correct method of worship.

Regarding all the other creation, the Quran mentions:

“Each [of them] has known his [means of] prayer and exalting [Him]…” (24:41)

When our situation usually is that even if we worship Allah, then it’s done without our attention or focus (Classic example is Salaat). Sometimes it’s done to show in front of others or if it’s done, it is done in an incorrect manner.

Why should it be that if there is someone that doesn’t know how to worship Allah in the right manner, then it has to be us. We should ponder over what are those actions that would bring Allah’s pleasure? And we should perform those actions happily without anyone mentioning or coercing us to do them.

In turning towards Allah, the most vital thing is that we should devote our heart solely to Him.

Remembering His blessings, we should become grateful. This is because until in our hearts we don’t have gratitude towards Him and until we don’t have value to who Allah is, we will never experience pleasure in His worship and our hearts will not experience happiness when worshipping Him.

One is that we just do what is needed. The call to prayer has occurred (adhan), now we have to pray. No, we shouldn’t just do it as a requirement (treat it as ritual or chore) but we should perform the action with happiness, love.

Why? Because Allah has given numerous blessings to us that even if we wish to count, we won’t be able to do so.

“And if you should count the favor of Allah, you could not enumerate them.” (14:34)

Even if one wants to ponder or think about the blessings of Allah, they are beyond one’s imagination. (It’s quite amazing that one thought of a human being no matter how fast/imaginative it is, is not sufficient to encompass the blessings of Allah) To concur, there are many blessings that are apparent to us and there are many blessings that are hidden from us.

“…and has completed and perfected His Graces upon you, (both) apparent and hidden…” (31:20)

And the blessings are of such nature, there is no excuse for this human being to deny or say he/she has not been granted anything.

“So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny?” (55:13)

So how can we say that this blessing not Allah but someone else has given this to me? Whatever we received or got in life, all is given by Him.

Many people become lazy or weak in their worship and sometimes people after continuously being steadfast in their worship; all of a sudden leave it. They lament “What did we achieve by worshipping Allah?” and “How did we benefit by keeping on calling Him (dua)?”

Remember, on one side we count the blessings of Allah on us and on the other side we note our worship to Him. Then we can see whatever is given to us (blessings) is infinite and whatever we have done (worship) is mere, limited or finite. Not only that, the limited worship we have done is sometimes not sincere and we end up including others as partners in worshipping Him.
