Should we trust Allah or our weapons?

Often as Muslims we see the situation of our muslim brothers and sisters around the world and we feel hopeless. Often we blame our own leaders, or lack of weapons, or even our weak eman...

Firstly as Muslims should understand that Allah has commanded us to fight (against oppression) and to put our trust in Allah (swt) Who is our Maula (Protector, Helper)- of the believers and the kuffar (disbelievers) have no helpers.

"And fight them (the disbelievers) until there is no more fithna (tumult or oppression) and there prevail justice and faith in Allah altogether and everywhere; but if they cease (thier oppression), verily Allah does See all that they do.
If they refuse be sure that Allah is your Maula (Protector)- the Best to Protect and the Best to Help."

(Surah Anfal 8: 39-40)

And the issue of Jihad is not restricted/ limited by weapons. So we should not feel that we are inferior because we have a weapon that the kuffar can never own...

The messenger of Allah said "The dua' (suplication) is the weapon of the believers" (Bukhari)

How many times has Allah (swt) given victroy to the believers, who put thier trust in Allah (swt) and made dua' to Him? and then fought with all thier effort, reguradless of what weapons they had, or the number of the enemy.

From the Quran we have the example Talut (a muslim king) who was facing the mighty army of Goliath (Jaloot)-

Allah says in Surah Baqarah "When they crossed the river he (Talut) and the believers with him- they said: "This day we cannot cope with Goliath and his forces." But those who were convinced that they will meet Allah said: "How often, by Allah's Will, has a smaller force vanquished a bigger one? Allah is with those who steadfastly persevere." (Surah Baqarah 2:249)

But not only did they put thier trust in Allah (swt), they made dua to Him, and they never turned thier backs from fighting!!

"When they advanced to meet Goliath and his forces they prayed: "Our Lord! pour out constancy on us and make our steps firm; help us against those that reject faith." (Surah Baqarah 2:250)

And from the Sunnah we have the example of the messenger of Allah (pbuh) who was making dua' to Allah on the Day of Badr so much with his arms raised that his shawl fell of his blessed shoulders-

"Oh Allah! If You allow this small band of believers (sahabah) to be defeated today- none will worship You after this day" (Bukhari)

Until Abu Bakr was grieved by the dua' of the prophet and he asked him to stop- saying Allah (swt) will answer your prayer.

The Quraysh outnumbered the muslims over 3-1 ratio. 1000 full armed and equipped strong men against about 313 men with no armour, a few swords and one horse!

And they did not compalin about weakness or say we need to improve our selves before we meet the Quraysh rather they all fought will all thier might and Allah disgraced the disbelievers from Quraysh and He (swt) gave the sahabah and his beloved prophet Victory.

This is because they did as Allah (swt) commanded them, they didn't just rely purely upon dua' but their dua was accomapnied by actions. And they did not rely upon weapons to give them victory, but they prepared from what ever little weapon they had.

"Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power including steeds of war (tanks, planes, artillery) to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies of Allah and your enemies and others besides whom you may not know but whom Allah does Know. Whatever you shall spend in the cause of Allah shall be repaid unto you and you shall not be treated unjustly." (SurahAnfal 8:60)

:SMILY346:

And they has unwavering faith that ultimatly victory is from Allah and the fighting is a test from Allah to see and reward those who made effort and sacrifice for Jannah, and those who just sat at home.

"And there is no victory except from Allah. Verily, Allah is All-Mighty, All Wise" (Surah Anfal 8:10)

So it is essential that as muslims we are constantly asking for the help of Allah, make dua for the muslims, in Palastine, Iraq, Afghanistan and else where. Ameen

Assalam alaikum,
Here's something from the Book of ALLAH.

When two parties from among you were about to lose heart, but ALLAH was their Wali (Supporter and Protector). And in ALLAH should the believers put their trust. (QUR'AN 3:122)

And make ready against them all you can of power, including steeds of war (tanks, planes, missiles, artillery) to threaten the enemy of ALLAH and your enemy, and others besides whom, you may not know but whom ALLAH does know. (QUR'AN 8:60)

ALLAH says the truth. We only need to obey HIS instructions and we'll be among the successful.

Salam.
