The Dates for the Fasts of Ashura 2021

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said regarding the day of Ashura: "It is a great day when Allah saved Musa (As) & his people & drowned Pharaoh & his people" [Muslim]

"Fasting on it expiates the previous year of sins." [Muslim]

The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) also says, "The best fasting after Ramadan is the month of Allah Muharram, and the best prayer after the obligatory prayer is prayer at night." [Muslim 1163]

It is recommended to fast either the 9th & 10th or 10th & 11th or even on all 3 days. This is in order to differ from the Jews who only fasted on the day of Ashura & because the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) intended to fast the 9th & 10th of Muharram.

The following are the dates for the Fasts of Ashura 2021 in the UK (Please check with your local Masjids as to the dates in your local area & country):

9th Muharram - Wednesday 18th August

10th Muharram - Thursday 19th August

11th Muharram - Friday 20th August

We should not miss out on such valuable opportunities to gain immense rewards and forgiveness of our sins because on the day of Judgement we will beg one another for a single good deed, but none of us will give any away, not even our own Mothers. This is because every single one of us will be in dire need on that day.

So we must grab every opportunity we possibly can whilst we are alive to increase in our good deeds and to gain forgiveness of our sins as we know not if we will be alive tomorrow.

May Allah enable us to take every opportunity we can to do good and to gain forgiveness of our sins. Ameen
