Allah al mighty cautious us in quran don’t follow the footstep of saitan if you do so he will order for indecency and lead you to refuse.
Because Satan was first who refused and he claimed that he will mislead the peoples to the same and Allah almighty said you will not be able to those who keep fear of me as said in quran sura al araaf ayat no. 201
(Undoubtedly those who fear Allah when a thought of Satan touches them they become careful and at the same time their eyes are opened.)
So we must understand what is the footstep of Satan which led one to refuse. What I have understand from the quran that there is three main reasons which lead satan to refuse.
1) CLOSED OF MIND
As we know in quran Allah the almighty said that he did not create anything without reason. Its mean whatever created in world and on earth having some reason and have purpose and nothing has been created just for vain. Thatswhy always in quran Allah offered human being to think over it and said there is a sign in earth and in yourself and want us to understand and also annoyed on us if we don’t consider and look upon. So I think it is the 1st reason which leads him to refuse as when Allah almighty created Adam (as) from clay he did not understand the reason why Allah has chosen Adam (as) as his successor and created him from clay. When we seek the reason of creating Adam (as) from clay we found the clay (soil) has a characteristic of generating and producing the thing with good result for example we put a small seed of fruit into the soil and it comes into a big tree and it gives fruit which in huge and much more more quantity then what we did put in. while fire does not having such characteristic rather its burn the things and change the shape but not generate the things so that there are many other reason who justify why Adam (as) has been chosen for the khilafat on earth.
So there is a example for us also to keep open the mind and never take the decision without knowing the actuality of things otherwise we do act as satan did and we become the follower of him and could go on astray (wrong path)
2) CLOSED OF EYES.
As we know in quran the Allah almighty said that the peoples have the eyes but they don’t see from it. It does not mean those peoples are physically blind but it is said for those who don’t see the truth and I think it was the second reason which lead him to refuse. As when Allah almighty order all the angels to prostrate before Adam (as) satan did not see the truth and he consider that Allah is ordering to prostrate before a clay(a soil) but infact it was the soul of Allah into the Adam (as) which was ordered to prostrate. But satan did not see the truth and blindly refused. So there is an example for us also not to refuse the things blindly and go deep into the matter and analyse the things properly and completely and find out the truth and then act accordingly.
3. Negative pride.
As I stated above the two basic principles of analyzing the truth so if we don’t follow the above then we will keep ourselves in darkness and this situation develop the arrogance and negative pride which led us to assume that we are on right, as quran said satan seducing them by showing their deeds right to them.
Thatswhy quran always give lesson of equality and teach us to never consider others as inferior and always ordered muslims to seek knowledge from childhood till one died. quran said
“who remember Allah standing and sitting and lying on their sides and contemplate in the creation and earth (saying) O Lord you have not made it vain. (3/191)
These are basic footstep of satan how he refuse the truth and by following his footstep a lot of peoples in past refused the prophets and other holy personalities and still a millions of peoples are doing it.
Thatswhy quran said (We have made for every prophet an enemy devils (satans) from among men and jinn) sura anaam 6 ayaat 112.
