When is listening to music forbidden

I read sme time ago that all forms of music including some musical instruments is forbidden in Islam. Is this true?

:salam2: yes music is haram in islam ,there is a hadeeth of our prophet saying that music is haram and once he(SAW)was sitting with some of his companions and he heard some body playing flute upon that he covered his ears with two index fingers and may allah guide u to the right path:astag: :astag:
